Guest guest
Sat Nam: Has anyone had experience with ringing in the ears - tinnitus? Any kriyas that might help, or general advise? I know diet and stress play a role, but it is something that affects many people, and our medical system only addresses the issue with heavy duty steroids or decongestants that are very powerful and dangerous in the long run. The internet has a great deal of varied information, and in general, the concesus is " learn to live with it. " I would like to help a student with this issue - so any ideas would be appreciated. Guest guest
Dear Jai Satya Kaur: Since I have joined this group I don't remember anything that has been suggested to help alleviate/resolve issues related to tinnitus. I suggest 2 exercises. I ask you, if you will, to try one and then the other exercise on your student and explore if one or both work. These exercises are from Yoga for Health and Healing from the teachings of YB compiled by Alice Clagett and Elandra Kirsten Meredith. 1) The first one is to prevent deafness but don't alarm your student, it is just that if it can help prevent deafness, perhaps it can help other aspects of the hearing canal as well. Get into rock pose. From this position, raise the buttocks and lower your head until one ear is resting on the floor. The pressure of your upper body weight should be on that ear. Rest in this position for 5 min, then switch ears and continue for 5 more min. 2) This next one is to cleanse the ears: Kanar Kriya (can also be done in half lotus). Sit on left heal, the right leg is stretched straight forward in front of you. Grabbing your extended toes or ankle with both hands, put the left ear on the right leg, or as close to it as you can get it. Hold the position while doing the breath of fire for 3 min. Then switch legs and ears and repeat for 3 min. I would do one first for 40 days in a row. And then I would try the other for 40 days in a row. Please have them keep a daily journal and report to you regularly. Keep encouraging them without promises but remaining positive. Could you then report back to the group to let us know if any one was useful in any way? This issue is not that uncommon and we may need to help a student with a similar problem. Thank you and blessings, Awtar Singh
