Weact with grace, compassion, gratitude and integrity and operate with clarity,neutrality, balance and authenticity.Position Summary:The Dasvandh DevelopmentDirector is responsible to successfully create and carry out the strategicand operational plans for Dasvandh. Dasvandh is a tithing programthat supports the mission of Sikh Dharma. The position is responsiblefor planning, coordinating and administering organizational tithing programincluding cultivating and acknowledgement of donors, writing, planningand developing special project and programmatic funding in coordinationwith organizational goals, cultivation of individual gifts, appeal campaigns,special events. Reporting: The Dasvandh Directorworks directly with and reports to the General Manager regarding strategicfundraising and organizational growth objectives and to integrate the effortsand organizational resources of Sikh Dharma International. Requirements:Business management skills includingbut not limited to strategic and operational planning, creating and managingbudgets, and management of employees in a collegial culture.The candidate will have a hands-onapproach, experience working within a team office environment, managinga small team to deliver objectives, and excellent team communication, presentation,and writing skills. In depth knowledge and demonstrationof the body of teachings known as The Teachings of Yogi Bhajan, Sikh traditionsand technology, in particular, interest in prosperity technology, and thetechnology of tithing.Excellent computer skills in allMicrosoft Office applications, and preferred experience in Frontpage, LotusNotes, Raiser's Edge (database management), Adobe software: Photoshop,InDesign, and AcrobatExcellent customer/donor relationsskills, including personal letters and phone demeanor and calls, and agood memory for donor informationData entry, data research into,and reporting from Raiser's Edge (database management)Website development and websitework (Frontpage or other programs), including website, eNewsletters, eCampaignsand other internet based workGeneral knowledge of mailing systemsMain Duties and ResponsibilitiesTithing Program responsibilitiesTo provide central leadership and coordination for the tithing area, forSikh Dharma International Dasvandh, by developing and managing the annualStrategic and Operational Plan and budget and ensuring effective implementationof all fundraising activities of the Dasvandh office including but notlimited to: Overall annual fundraising campaignincluding multiple appeals research, design, creation, and mailings. Creationof fundraising and gift materials and execute direct mail and online appealcampaigns. Identify, cultivate and managerelationships with current and prospective donors. Coordinate donoracknowledgement letters and other correspondence in cooperation with AdministrativeCoordinator.e-philanthropy internet newslettersand fundraising campaigns;Development and delivery of prosperitycourses and international programs; Leverage emerging technologies toraise funds online; manage website, design and upkeep;Manage fundraising databases (Raiser’sEdge) and tracking systems, including donors, grants, special events anddevelopment functions. Create monthly fundraising reports and otherdatabase reports as needed.Administration: Recruitment,training, supervision, and assessment of staff; and to ensure effectivesystems of program planning, work organization, communication and reportingwithin the fundraising office. Handle administrative and organizationaspects of the Dasvandh Office including meetings and conference calls(i.e. prepare and distribute notices, agendas, minutes, etc.). Plan, implement and coordinate fundraisingpresentations, special events such as year end campaign materials, andprogrammatic sponsorships. Coordinate programmatic gift giving efforts:writing, research, case statements, proposal writing, reporting Engagement and management of volunteers. Work with the board of directors to develop fundraising skills andintegrate development strategies. Serve as the organizational liaisonwhen requested on behalf of Dasvandh and Sikh Dharma International.To advise the General Manager andSikh Dharma International Board of Directors on maximizing the fundraisingpotential of Dasvandh activities and to identify and draw attention toorganizational and program issues related to fundraising with implicationsfor Dasvandh’s work;To plan and support the preparationand approval of the fundraising budget; to ensure that funds and activitiesfor fundraising projects are tracked and reported;Maintain a strategic overview of fundraising developments, both internallyand externally, monitoring and evaluating the success of fundraising endeavorsand ensuring Sikh Dharma International is proactive in utilizing new andinnovative techniques as well as responding accordingly to the trends ofgift receipts.To work with worldwide Dasvandhprograms to create fundraising resources, by helping to plan and coordinatean integrated program of strategic support, training, and giving in countriesaround the world. Select Performance MeasuresMeeting strategic and budgetaryfundraising goals.Growth in new donors, programmaticgiving, and cultivation of donor and philanthropic relationships.Success in online and direct mailappeal campaigns. Involvement of board and volunteersin meeting funding goals.Preparation and KnowledgeBachelor's degree with 3 or moreyears experience in nonprofit fundraising or similar environment.Proficiency in Microsoft Word andExcel and database management experience.Ability to present informationconcisely and effectively, both verbally and in writing. Ability to organize and prioritizework in a deadline-driven environment.Ability to be a self-starter andwork independently with minimal supervision.Entrepreneurial approach to workingin an environment with specific resources, and ability to leverage, externalpartners and the talent and time of the board of directors and volunteers.Excellent interpersonal skillsand professional demeanor.Enthusiastic, goal-oriented andcommitted to excellence.Ability to travel occasionallyand occasionally work evenings and weekends.Flexibility, a sense of humor,and a commitment to the mission of Sikh Dharma International and Dasvandh.CompensationThe position is a full-timeposition, working 40 hours a week.
