Hi everyone can you please tell me why yoga is necessary or why we

consider it better than physical exercise.Or we are just lazy to do

some physical activity.

Or should we need both.

Thanks.

My fiance’ tell me Yogi Bhajan said in addition to

Kundalini yoga women must walk at least 2 miles each day.

Personally as a practitioner of Aikido for 15 years and

former jock, now doing Kriyas ever day I can tell you there is a huge difference

in regular “exercise” and the exercise we get in KY.

DO a set for a specific chakra and really focus on that

internally. I have found with practice I can feel the set doing what the

description of it says it will do. “lower triangle balancing, or heart

opener, or stress buster, etc. I have also found that if I run I feel rooted

or if I do some hatha I feel the same but in no instance have I ever felt any

higher chakra sensations doing regular exercise (yet).

Also: KY does not put enough (healthy) stress on our musculoskeletal

system: so integrating into your life running, gardening, hath yoga, or any

form of exercise that taxes your body and cardio vascular system will be

beneficial.

Hope this helps J

In response to: " KY does not put enough (healthy) stress on our

musculoskeletal system " ...

Have you ever done the 'Complete Workout for the Elementary Being',

AKA 'Har Aerobic Kriya'? Please try it for 60 minutes and call your

cardio vascular system in the morning.

Oh I had to laugh at this one.... I have asthanga yogis in my KY class and people that go the gym regularly . Most of them say KY can be quite challenging . On student I had said Breath of fire was like doing crunches - lots of ab work there. Sat Nam Fezia From malaysia Send instant messages to your online friends http://uk.messenger.

May the New Year bring you happiness and peace, and the strength and courage to follow your dreams. May you forget the weight of yesterday and focus on the path ahead, guided by your heart and the light of hope. May you find beauty in everything and goodness in every heart. And may you always remember that you are blessed. May you be well, happy and peaceful! (from Sujatha, a Buddhist monk)

I just remembered also that you can go to wwwopencenter.org in NYC and

see an article if you got to Yoga, then to Kundalini, that I wrote

about Kundalini Yoga for fitness and strength..

I sit and stand corrected, thank you all for the feedback

and enlightenment. KY can and will give us all the physical activity we need if

approached correctly J
