Vagus nerve

Dear Guru Nam Kaur,

In Kundalini Yoga taught by Yogi

Bhajan, there are numerous special kriyas to open the Vagus Nerve.

It’s all part of the One Star spirituality.

The Vagus nerve moving up from

the heart goes to the crown, In KY it’s called the Mind nerve, because

the thoughts and impressions stored in the heart percolate up ad manifest

together with the sense of “I” which also rises from the heart, so

that as they are imaged in the brain we have the idea that “I am this

thought and impression.”

But, as you will have read, the

purpose of yoga is to isolate the seer, it’s also the main or core

teaching in every religion. When the seer is isolated and abides in Itself, it

merges into the source of the “I” sense, which is Infinite

All-Pervasive Unconditioned Uncaused Self-Illuminating Being, which pervades,

supports and sustains the Universe.

At one end of the Vagus nerve is

the Spiritual Heart, which in Ayuridic medicine is noted as the seat of

consciousness (samvit). In yoga texts and texts from the Saints, Sages and

Saviors, it’s called the Hrdayam, which means ”This place is That

which sucks in Everything.” IN KY it’s called the “Ik

Tar” or One Star.

The experience of it is a sense

of dissolving and relinquishment of all ideas and concepts, that can no longer

hold the I”I sense n the mind, and are crushed and withdrawn

inwardly. At the same time you experience a kind of a flashing forth,

like looking at a movie in which the light in the projector is increased and

the screen turns to white. You have the sense of abiding as unconditioned

uncaused without time, space-like Being, without any projection, as everything

is within the dimension of your Self experience, a field of consciousness in

which there is no longer a here and there a subject and object. The sensation

is also much more solid, grounded clear and refined than out typical sense of

“I” mixed with thoughts, moods and impressions.

By taking up the Sadhana of KY,

which involves the practice of expansion or radiance, the practice of withdrawal

and study of scripture pertaining to the expression of identity with the

experience, as the nadis become purified and charged, and the voltage

increases, the hold of the thoughts and impressions on the field of

consciousness and related encoding throughout the nervous system diminishes and

a sense of singular intelligence arises, which comes with a pulsing sensation

of the “I” as I” meaning that the “I” sense is

recognized as the Truth, and there is a sudden “hearing”

“recollection” and “Self abiding” mentioned in all the

religions, that entirely absorbs you into your Ground of Being. This

pulsing of the “I” is felt in the Spiritual Heart and through the

Vagus nerve, which radiates incandescently the soundless sound of “I”

in a way that the idea of near and far vanish and you abide Transfigured.

The Vagus nerve is also called

the Amrit nadi, Para nadi and Aham nadi.

At the other end of the Vagus

nerve is the Sahasrara, which projects an arc of radiant purity and warmth.

You’ll notice that the

whole body and around the body radiate electrically, and you feel all the

principal nerves full and flowing with brightness and radiance streaming

through the top of the head.

All this is just a matter of

Sadhana, every day and practice at other times when you can.

The involvement in the world

actually enhances the practice as the practice enhances one’s clarity and

vision and connectivity in the world. This is because the melodrama of daily

life, whatever it is, comes with the emotional impact of impressions, which

emotion causes a considerable circulation of energy throughout the body and

mind. When one has a daily Sadhana, however, these thoughts and

impressions and the disruption of related emotion are evened out throughout the

nervous system, causing an even deeper experience, which is less possible if

you seclude yourself and only practice.

So, if you practice KY, you may

as well face life boldly, and fearlessly. The practice itself will draw

this ability out of you.

Sat

Nam Siri Bandhu K,

I would like to thank Amrit for posting the question that brought up

interesting answers and for those who answered.

I'm especially interested to know more about the de Vagus Nerve.

Can you tell us more about it? What did the SSS said? Is it the Mind Nerve

besides being related to digestion, breath and circulation? How is it

related to the mind, emotions, etc.?

Thanks to you in advance.

Infinite Blessings,

Guru Nam K

Sat Nam

Many thanks to Guru Nam K and Pieter for bringing up such a blissful and powerful sharing on The Vagus Nerve. More blessings were received by visiting

www.adityahrdayam.com

Could Pieter please elaborate more on

1) " Pulsing " of " I " which is felt in spiritual heart and the vagus nerve......Does Sunana(listening) means focussed listening of this pulsing

2) or Does this means (sunana) listening to the pulsing sensation which first can be experienced/ listened to, at the naval point while meditating which often rises up from the naval point and starts pulsing/ resonating at the third eye point?

With Prayers
