Guest guest
Sat nam, ji. Yogi Bhajan taught us a " household " way of life, versus a rejectionist path of the ascetic. Part of being a holder of a house is being part of society. And " politics " - how a People (poli) organizes itself - is part of the householder's responsibility. Yogi Bhajan also taught us the value of nutritional diets, including the role of supplementation given the depleted nature of natural foods. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) - charged by our politicians to work with established businesses to control less established businesses (which, as Milton Friedman said, is the role of all regulations and their implementing agencies), is once again, as it does every few months, threatening access to the smaller mom-and-pop shops that produce the latest, most innovative natural products, nutrients and supplements. This latest in an endless litany of threats is the so-called " guidance " on " good-manufacturing practices. " To read more, including how the FDA itself estimates that smaller businesses will go out of business because of this guidance, please http://www.newstarget.com/022499.html Second, Congress, full of politicians who also do the bidding of the larger, established businesses, is about to push through a bill, S. 1082, that will subject supplements to a system of testing heretofore reserved only for risky pharmaceutical drugs. By forcing natural nutrient producers to prove that their " benefits " outweigh their " risks, " the mom-and-pop shop will consider the cost of undertaking such a test and will " just say no, " leaving the market and denying the consumer the latest, innovative body supporting nutrients. Nutrients support enzymatic activity, while pharmaceutical drugs suppress enzymatic activity. Nutrients, thus, are considered " food " under the 1994 Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act (DSHEA). To treat foods as drugs is to take many supplements out of the market. Finally, while many yogis, as progressives, inherently value international governing bodies, they should heed the old " law of unintended consequences, " when giving up power to Smarter Others. Th United Nation's has created a body called " Codex, " which aims to regulate the international food trade. At the behest of the most powerful corporations (how could it be otherwise?), Codex's Committee on Vitamins has passed an upper limit on the potency of nutrients and supplements. If we've learned anything from Dr. Kartar and Deva from the.cleanse.com, we've learned that we need more nutrients, not less. Countries are coerced into implementing Codex decisions by threat of sanction from the World Trade Organization. I'm truly sorry if you're a supporter of Big Government, or have a faith in the benevolence of Big Corporations. Yogi Bhajan said the time from now through 2012 would be a rough time. And Narayan the Face Reader said these Powerful Elites would defend their Turf like Cornered Tigers. While we aim for the sadhana bliss every day, we need to be active, while maintaining that balance of being the LightHouse and attracting conscious souls for a better world. At least this is our potential, if we seize it. Sort of like the " gift " number in numerology. That latent power resides in us, if we choose to use it. Don't be a sheep and just accept as inevitable what the Smarter Others want to impose on us. Assert your Rights, which Jefferson said we innately have, and build for yourself a life worth living. Be in the company of the holy and God Bless. P.S. At my blog I wrote about another Government plan to force us like cattle into mass quarantine areas - as described by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). I invite you to read all about what's in store for us, leave a " comment, " and forward to friends. My blog's at www.CommonInterest.info.
