Guest guest
Sat Nam, I just got the CD by Nirinjan Kaur Khalsa - I LOVE it. However, my present understanding is that it must be recited 11 times. It is going to take me FOREVER, to LEARN THIS!! Will it still work, if I am just listening to it and beginning to learn the words? Sign me desperate to know. LOL Sat Avtar Kaur
Guest guest
Sat Nam Sat Avtar Kaur Ji--Absolutely listening to the CD gives you an effect. When I first learned Sopurkh, I sat listening to the CD with my Nitnem just following along. After a few days, I turned the CD up so I could hear it over my recitation and fumbled my way through my own recitation still using my Nitnem until I felt that I had the Naad and the pronunciation more solidly integrated into my muscle and speech memory. When you use the CD, it takes about 31 minutes to do 11 recitations. You will be surprised how quickly you learn when reciting 11 times a day. Now, I recite it with the CD from my heart without reading it. If I am without access to a CD player, then I read it from my Nitnem and keep track of my recitations with a mala. Welcome to this beautiful prayer--I highly suggest when you are done reciting it in Gurmukhi -- close your eyes and let the english words penetrate your open heart. Sopurkh has become a foundation for my practice--I have been reciting it for over 2 1/2 years only missing a few days here and there...and I do miss it when I do...Blessings to you--Sunder Kaur Kundalini-Yoga , "Sat Avtar Kaur" <myralorey wrote:>> Sat Nam,> > I just got the CD by Nirinjan Kaur Khalsa - I LOVE it. Guest guest
I realize that this is an older post, but I wanted to respond about the so purkh recitation. If you linked into beloved Siri Gian Kaur's web page, I will reveal that I am the woman mentioned. I was in a relationship that was making all my intuitive senses go on overdrive; I knew something was amiss. Yet, if I asked my partner, he declared all was well and that I was crazy. I found out about the So Purkh verse from a friend. I asked her to recite it into my micro recorder so that I could learn the words.(way before Nirinjan Kaur's recording) Even though it took time for me pronounce it all properly, my intention was pure as I recited. The first time I recited it, I found myself bowing and begging " God show me Truth. " And yes, in a matter of a week, my former partner's shenanigans were revealed that he was in an intimate relationship with another woman. (not exactly what I wanted to hear.) I was devastated, but why? Not like I didn't " know. " I was still wrapped into the drama of it all. I kept reciting, as I realized that I was gaining strength, and the meditation created a clarity about with whom I am in relationship. Fast forward a year later, I declared to a friend, " If God wants me in another relationship, then he's going to have that man walk through my front door. " And so it was, less than a month later, a dear friend visited me at my house and he had this friend (single, and genuine, and a beautiful light)...and since my post is getting really long...it turns out that we were the answer to both of our prayers. Me to He. He to Me...lest I not forget that God technically did deliver this man to my front door! From time to time, I recite the verse for my partner. For me, the prayer provides me a clear channel to recite Loving intentions, and in return be answered with Loving intentions from all there is. Drama is dropped. Nothing real can be threatened. Nothing unreal exists. Herein lies the peace of God. ~~from Dev Dharam Kaur (used to be in Espanola, now in Cairo)
