Guest guest
Here's a report from Miri Piri Academy, the school Yogi Bhajan founded in India: " In some ways the yoga competition has always seemed like an odd competition to have. For the most part yoga is not a competitive discipline but at the same time yoga is about pushing yourself and challenging yourself to do things that are hard or that you don't think you can do. Attending the yoga competition this year was very inspiring. The students really pushed themselves. I was so impressed seeing two students do 11 minutes of wheel pose, one student doing 6 minutes of stretch pose, one student doing 226 sarban dandes. This showed me how the competition encouraged students to challenge themselves and gave that extra motivation. Now these students know these things are possible for them to do. " " Below are the different exercises the students competed in and the names and times of the winning boy and girl. " Wheel Pose Sat Nam Kaur – 11 minutes Har Narayan Singh – 11 minutes Reverse Archer Pose Guru Nam Kaur – 4 minutes 20 seconds Ram Das Singh (10th Grade) – 6 minutes 50 seconds Lotus Push Through Shiva Kaur – 3 minutes Sat Partap Singh – 1 minute 45 seconds Squats Guru Surya Kaur – 129 Hari Jot Singh – 253 Sarban Dandes Waheguru Kaur – 152 Sat Shabad Singh – 223 Stretch Pose Lotta Pries – 4 minutes 32 seconds Guru Seva Singh – 6 minutes 18 seconds

I have done KY for quite a few years and have never heard of them. I am sure others have not. The times an amounts that these students have done are truely impressive. Guest guest
Sat Nam, Lotus Push Through is what the kids are calling MahaPadmasan, balancing on the hands in full lotus with the arms extended straight through the creases behind the knees. Yogi Bhajan spoke about it after it was on the cover of Yoga Journal years ago. Guru Prem took an interest, as he does with yogic challenges, and is likely who introduced it to the Miri Piri students, who also love challenges. Yogi Bhajan can be seen in Reverse Archer in Shakti's book on postures and poetry. You can see pictures of the kids in these postures at: http://s231.photobucket.com/albums/ee282/miripiriacademy/2-18-08% 20Yoga%20Competition/ Be well, GuruMeher Kundalini-Yoga , " Guru K " <greatyoga wrote: > > Sat Nam Guru Meher, > > Would you please explain Reverse Archer and Lotus Push Through?
