Guest guest
Hi, Since, Yogi Bhajan came to make teachers, not followers, then that means, teachers have 'Teachers in Training'. Call them TNTs - harnessing all that energy and power. So why was the word 'student' used, a word that has so many negative connotations (from over 1,000 of years of use) and that negativity is in the subconsciousness of everyone? Guest guest
Forgive me, but I don't agree with your statement that the word student has a negative connotation. As a matter of fact the sign of a "teacher" is an openness to remain a student. A student is a life long learner. As a student, one can remain humble enough to learn even from the lowliest of people, places, and objects. PatryDelicious ideas to please the pickiest eaters. Watch the video on AOL Living. Guest guest
Dear Sat Avtar Kaur: I don't know that the term " student " has so many negative connotations. In my mind being a student is being willing to step outside of thinking that I know, being receptive and enjoying learning. It is also an essential prerequisite for being a teacher because to be a good teacher one has to know how to be a good student. The teacher/student energetic relationship is like the master/slave energetic relationship. The slave can go into self pity, humiliation and victimization, but the spiritual growth available to slaves is in learning to obey and to accept humility. The master can abuse his/her power, but the spiritual growth available to masters is to learn to respect and learn about the wise use of power, when both learn this the slave becomes the master and vice versa. There are many stories of Eastern spiritual Masters who present themselves very humbly as gardeners, or servants, and people don't recognize them for who they are at first. This is how duality is overcome, be it the teacher/student duality, or the master/slave duality, or any duality... There is no negative... Guest guest
As I understand the teachings; Yogi Bhajan was preparing, bewaring, daring and sharing that the concept of the " Expert " or " Guru " or " Master " or " Teacher " that we give ourselves over to...in order to learn...is always in the end ourselves...and that Self is the Full Experience of the Teachings...Teacher. Our concept of student was never going to encompass enough of the experience, knowledge, and wisdom we need as humans to live in the Aquarian Age. My understanding is that he never dropped the concept of student (or its true value); he simple redefined the practical definition of teacher and student. In the end we are always both students and teachers.
