Guest guest
When you watch the movie KITERUNNER (or read the book), you may also be intrigued by the name Hazara, seeing that Sant Hazara Singh is Yogi Bhajan's teacher.. And when you google this you find it to be an ethnic group in Afghanistan, the word itself probably meaning THOUSAND.. Would anybody know any relatedness of this with the name of Siri Singh Sahib's teacher..? Thank you, Pritam Hari Kaur
Guest guest
Sat Nam, The word Hazar (Hazara) Azeri, Azer etc. means " endless " . It is the name given to Caspian sea by the locals, which is a lake but since it is so large it is called Hazar Sea. The peoples who live around the regions (mostly Turkic peoples) of Hazar Sea are called Hazari, or Azeri. Hence the country Azerbaijan. The " i " or " a " ending in Hazara, or Hazari " i " means from, a means " to " . In different languages this may not make any significant difference. It is also known that secret " yoga schools " existed around the mountains of Caspian Sea, one may see these depicted in Gurdjieff's " Meetings With Remarkable Men " movie. Today there is a rumor that these schools have become Sufi Tekkes (Ashrams) Flow like water in Love, Sincerely, Dev Saroop Singh Khalsa
