Guest guest
SatNam Many thanks for sharing this amazing, blissful video. What the scientist has explained the state of Nirvana it seems is the CharanKamal of the Guru from where the association or company of Sadh or True Bhagti as per Guru starts. Where Banee is the Roop ( form) and it is The Saram Khand( Pauri 36, JapJi) where Mat, Budh,( self intellect, finiteness) as blessed in the left brain, are sharpened with Guru's grace into Guru's mat ( Guru's guidance) and Budh Bideka ( infinite's wisdom) Jah bhao nahi taha asan badhio Singi Anahat Bani.( Guru: 208:5) Sangat may please help improving these evolving thoughts and bless ( Bhul chuk de Mafi) With Prayers Charan Singh Oshawa, CA

Guest guest
The link below is about a brain scientist who suffered a stroke andwas able to "see" her brain in action, right side/left side. It was anenlightening experience and I think anyone interested in yoga andmeditation would profit from watching the 18 minute video, I found itabsolutely fascinating and inspiring. http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/03/13/when-a-brain-scientist-suffers-a-stroke/?em & ex=1205726400 & en=25d09fa1ea79adc2 & ei=5087%0ASat NamLooking at the standard definitions of the conscious and the unconscious, they sound very very similar to the differences between the left and right sides of the brain. What is the difference/relationship.Thank you.Har Hari Kaur Cambridge, UK
Guest guest
Sat Nam Hari Har Kaur: I believe that the purpose of meditation as Yogiji has taught it to us is to calm the mind's linear right side, both sides really. We practice Kundalini Yoga in order to relax and heal the physical body so, in short, it might sit straight, be able to listen to the sound current, remain in the healing mudras prescribed, and therefore realize, our true nature. Our true nature is physical, mental and spiritual. As he has said many many times, Happiness is our birthright! We are born as physical, intellectual and divine beings and we are entitled to happiness in all three spheres. If we can, through meditation of whatever form, realize the truth by being smart enough (right brain/linear) to take these practices and actually practice them, then the left brain, a physical theng, will make the leap of faith (in ourselves and our divinity) from merely mortal to infinitely true. We cannot live without the right side (Watch out for that truck coming down the street you are about to cross!) but if we deny the left side as so many people do by ignoring the quest for upliftment through enlightenment then we are left to a life of hunger and searching without knowing what we want to eat or attain. So, conscious and unconscious may indeed be markers for the right and left side. The unconscious is largely instinctual and preservationist. During her stroke the right side knew something had to be done to preserve life. It's also the part of our brain that dabbles in denying mortality. It acts reflexively, without thinking, impulsively. The conscious knows and lives but has very few outlets to the real world. Knowledge that we are eternal in some way carries with it an awful lot of baggage and responsibility that many human beings really refuse to shoulder. Many complain that spiritual living just causes us more unhappiness when in reality it is something that we have to face and take responsibility for, such as rising early, meditating, serving, being compassionate, and so forth. No one ever said the spiritual life was easy, but it is more fun and more rewarding than chasing the next big fad.
