Guest guest
Sort of a two-part question: is anyone able to confirm the correction to the Stress set for Adrenals & Kidneys that Guru Rattana was good enough to post here? - Kundaliniyoga/message/22766 the KRI version in the teacher training manuals does not indicate to keep the same mudra for the canon breath part of the exercises I'm asking because I recently saw a DVD by Maya Fiennes, who is a very popular KY teacher in London, in which she drops her hands in her lap during the canon breath part. I teach the set according to Guru Rattana's directions. This was a lengthy discussion on her msg board, and although I don't believe she has corrected the typo in subsequent printings of her manuals, she indicated by post that the hands are to be kept in the mudra during canon breath. I do hope that the set is getting out there to the wider public in its proper form. thanks, -Baba
Guest guest
Dear Baba, Sat Nam. Interesting that I would see this email, as I cannot read every one. I attended the class in Boston (years ago) when Gurucharan Singh taught this set. In that class according to my memory and my notes the hands in 2b remained in the same position as 2a. That is how I presented the set when I wrote the book in 1987. Wow that was 21 years ago! This was the first time this set was ever written down. As is the case for many, many of the sets in my 3 books - Transitions to a Heart-Centered World, Relax and Renew and Sexuality and Spirituality. KRI has since decided the hands are down and that is fine with me. Please keep in mind that KRI only in the 90s begin going through sets and trying to figure out what was the 'right' verson. For some sets we may never know. But the great news is the Kundalini works even when there are variations on a theme. Yogi Bhajan often taught what appeared to be almost the same set. So I encourage people to keep up, relax and enjoy the results. Blessings, Guru Rattana :+)
Guest guest
Guru Rattana, Thanks so much for the kind response! Your books were the first ones my teacher recommended, and I still teach from my original collection. It's such an interesting history to how these teachings were recorded, and how they are being preserved now. When I see a kriya like Ra Ma Da Sa, that is so precise in terms of the angle of the arms, or hear a story of Yogiji yelling at students for dropping the note on " Dev " when they tune in, it sometimes seems like there is a precision to KY that we must match. Your reminder of the power of our practice despite the details is welcome. I've decided to teach from your recommendations for ex. 2b (and, forgive me for saying, but your manual only says " still in easy pose with straight spine " ), which I have penciled into the margins of my Relax & Renew. You are a great reminder of the debt all of us owe to those who took faithful notes during the early years. Anyone who has tried to take detailed notes during a spacey KY class knows how hard this is. It's just another reminder that the power of this yoga is in the power of the Kundalini community to come together and make a " comparative study " , as Yogiji would have said! sat nam, -Baba
Guest guest
The Aquarian Teacher Manual is silent about the position of the hands in the third exercise (breath of fire through puckered lips). May be a "yogi's choice" until someone clears up the ambiguity. Peace and light, Barbara
Guest guest
Yes, it seems like that's what we have to work with. Just thinking about it logically, there's never a mention of canon breath working on the adrenals by itself usually; maybe the mudra is what focuses it there, as it focuses BOF there in the first part. sat nam, -Baba Kundalini-Yoga , Barbara Cox <blcox wrote: > > The Aquarian Teacher Manual is silent about the position of the hands in the third exercise (breath of fire through puckered lips). Guest guest
Dear Baba, Sat Nam! Thank you for your letter. One more thing about this set. Usually our adrenals and kidneys are burnt out or tired. In this case it is best to do this set in moderation. If you pump too hard, you can further tax these organs. If on the other hand, one is lethargic and needs activatiion, then a more vigorous routine is fine. Blessings, Guru Rattana :+)
