Soon I will be teaching my first lesson, to a group of absolute

beginners in KY (or even in yoga). Does anyone recommend a good kriya

for this first-time group ?

I really would my students to feel great after this lesson, so that

they definity will come back the next week... :-)

Thanks for your responce

Sat Nam!

When I am in your situation (or going to teach a class with unknown people)

I usually teach this kriya:

http://www.pinklotus.org/-%20KY%20Kriya%20Basic%20Spinal%20Energy%20Series%20fp.\

htm

For beginners (and also for more expert people) it's a good set to begin to

relate with the body and the breath and beging knowing what Yoga is.

.........but nothing or nobody can guarantee to you that someone will return

or not! This is a typical teacher's question....isn't it? :-)

Sat nam Siri Sant, The Aquarian Teacher Manual suggests Kriya For Elevation, Surya Kriya, Kriya for Morning Sadhana as appropriate for beginners. There are a few others that I cannot remember off the top of my head. Peace and light, Barbara/Jagatjeet Kaur

sat nam ji:i use the bsic energy spinal series for a great first class. it is a kriya that is relatively easy to perform, is also highly sophisticated, introduces the students to the locks (bandas), and finishes with sat kriya and a layout.you can find the kriya in sadhana guidelines (the first edition - i still haven't updated to the second edition),sat nam, god bless:guru simran

Sat nam I suggest you the Whae Guru kriya. It is the summary of Yoga, it is powerfull but not physically demanding. I simply love it. Sat Nam, I teach basic spinal energy series as the beginning of every other 8 week session I do. Returning students don't seem to mind and I ask that they be more conscious of breath and their movement, maybe ask returning students to pick up the pace a bit. The book "Kundalini Yoga: The Flow of Eternal Power" also has some good kriyas for beginners. I don't have the book at hand for specifics.Peace, Ram Das (John)

Sat Nam,

May I suggest you teach a Kriya that you have had some experience

with. Having done the Kriya yourself and experiencing the nuances of

what it takes to do that Kriya will help provide the sublties of

teaching it. It will open the door to teaching from a place of

authenticity. Keeping in mind that everyone's biochemical

individuality is different and that a kriya may or many not leave them

with a powerful experience to want them to come back. Allow yourself

to deliver the teachings then let the teachings do their work. The

students who are aligned with continuing Kundalini Yoga will continue.

Blessings!

It's a bit long, but the kriya for morning sadhana i find incredibly

powerful, and enjoyable for most people.
