Guest guest
Sat nam Nadh Singh Yes, we teach the sets and kriya exactly like they are presented in the manuals. This is the sequence that the set was originally taught by Yogi Bhajan. As a teacher of KY, we are more like messengers, in that we are giving the teachings just as we received them. There is a science and technology behind KY, so when we give the kriyas as we received them we are passing the technology along in pure form. The only thing that we can modify is the lengths of time for each exercise. So that we can teach to the level of our students. In KY we don’t really think in terms of asanas, we think in terms of sets and kriyas. Because KY isn’t so much about the posture, as it is about the energy created by the posture and the set. Each set is formulated to have a very specify effect on the body and energy of the body. Please look into taking KY Teacher Training, it is a wonderfully transformational experience, along with teaching you how to teach KY. I'm taking the few beginning steps in becoming a KY teacher, and have a question about KY Kriyas, specifically, the sequence of the asanas in the Kriyas. Since my background is primarily Kripalu, where I had the flexiblity of mixing different asanas that I liked into a kriya, my feeling is that I can't do that with Kundalini Yoga, and that I have to abide to the structured Kriyas. Is this true? Thank you for your time, Nadh Singh
Guest guest
Dear Nadh, My teacher explained that to me that we practice a form or discipline to experience the infinite formlessness or creativity of the universe. Kundalini Yoga is a technology with specific formulas given to bring about particular results. It is the results that expand your horizons and consciousness. Discipline develops the strength and ardor in you to access your infinite divine creative consciousness. One of my favorite quotes he said is “”You have only one friend, you and your discipline. The rest are all promises”. He also told us all yoga is good. Some kinds work faster. Kundalini Yoga is the fastest and that is one of the reasons he decided to teach Kundalini Yoga. God bless you on your path that you take. Thank you everyone in helping me deepen my understanding of KY. I'm in a bit of a dilemma at the moment, wondering about whether I should pursue the KY teacher training or the Kripalu teacher training. . . Is there any way that KY can offer me the chance for me to express my creativity? Thank you again! Nadh

Guest guest
Something else you can change is when a kriya calls for music for an asana or meditation or relaxation. If you don't have the specific music you can substitute other 3HO music instead. If a meditation/kriya calls for a specific mantra though, you should then either get the music or not teach the kriya. You may also just chant the mantra as you have learned it. If you need guidance on pronunciation there's an excellent CD, Mantras of the master by Santokh S Khalsa available at www.kundalinitoolbox.com. Guest guest
Sat nam! 3HO Music? Does this mean that I wouldn't be able to use non-3HO music (like Deva Premal or Deuter) in my classes?
