Guest guest
Sat nam group! I loved atmakk’s post regardling the aunsura yoga situation. My 2 cents: I used to teach Aikido, a Japanese martial art, in Minneapolis, Chicago, and New York for 12 years. After about 5 years of arguing which martial art was the best I realized there were many ways up the mountain of self defense, enlightenment, courage, balance, etc… And this is my point: I would tell people if you want quick self defense skills go to such and such and ju jitsu teacher. If you are competitive in nature and like punching and kicking go to Tao kwon do school down the road. If you like grappling and competition go do Judo. The arguments or discussions on which was better was always based on bias based on experience, prejudice, and ignorance. Like with KY I told people if you are ready, have patience, and the desire to get past barriers then Aikido maybe for you. It was and remains a very comprehensive Martial Art. I think that’s why I like KY – its in your face comprehensive maturation technology. And why many people split..and many others stay.. Oh..and because of this power in us and the KY ability to move it and develop it scares a lot of people. Like Yogi Bhajan said in his lecture, “The Yoga of Awareness,” “When I came to America people said Kudnlini Yoga is DANGEROUS!” (YB replies) “so is eating bananas.” hehe Sat nam Marty in Charlotte " We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them.
