Guest guest
Sat nam Dear Sasesohong, I recentl yposted on this.. I am a former psychiatric social worker and consumer of anti depressants. (coming off my last one with the advice of a holistic MD friend and of course KY and mediation). (and also used to self medicate with wine, lots of wine – thank you KY and Guru Rattana). Dr Dharma Singh Khalsa, MD in his book, “Meditation as Medication” recommends Sodarhshan Chakra Kriya and one other for depression.. From what I have read and felt (I am doing the Sodarshan Kriya) it works.. Keep in mind it takes 1000 days to master it, done daily.. What my MD friend and I say is this: Come off the med slowly, very very slowly as the drugs today are very potent and literally rewire your brain.. The meditation will expedite the “rewiring” of the “rewiring” but will take time. I am using a years time as a framework but will go longer if I feel the blues returning. The book Depression-Free, Naturally: 7 Weeks to Eliminating Anxiety, Despair, Fatigue, and Anger from Your Life Joan Mathews Larson is invaluable in this transition / treatment . She shows you how to replace medications with their amino acid and supplement equivalent. SO yout student may not need 1,000 days after all… Also below is a list of other books of interest my MD friend recommends. And cardiovascular exercise too helps or a vigorous KY set. J Hope my 2 cents helps. Marty / sarabot in Charlotte, NC There are many resources for working with these types of mental disorders. Guest guest
hello, I definitely endorse SCK, but do not advice it for beginners. As we all know, this meditation has great powers, but you must begin with easy steps. Yoga gurus have advised me of the kriya for self-love. You can google it, this one must be helpful. Another one is meditation for childhood traumas, also in the book meditation as medicine. This one strengthens your will. All in all, you may have a good shot in improving depression by doing meditations that focus on the 3rd chakra. Nabhi kriya is one of the best ones in working this chakra. I am currently practicing SCK, 140 days, it is bringing me peace of mind, but as I was once depressed, I feel that nabhi kriya, kriya for childhood angers helped me the best because these gave me the will to keep on practicing yoga.
