Guest guest
Sat Nam Yogi's and Yogini's! I am looking for a full moon meditation. One of my teachers mentioned it to me a while back, and i would love to find the detailed instructions for it. The way it was described to me was that it was to be done for 2.5 hours, by yourself, staring at the moon, and that it should be done one time in you life. I cannot make it to new mexico this year for solstice, and really want to do this meditation durin this months full moon. (june 18).... If anyone has more information on this it would be greatly appreciated!! Sat Nam Wahe Guru! Ram Das Bir Singh

Guest guest
Sat Nam, When the Siri Singh Sahib said not to meditate on the moon, he explained that such meditation makes you crazy because the moon does not shine it's own light. And so the word luney is derived from lunar. Guest guest
Sat Nam, Ram Das Bir Singh There is a full moon Meditation in the Teachers Manual for Kundalini Yoga Level one. You should be able to find a teacher near you that can give you the set. If you are in the south Florida area I can set you up. You can go to the 3HO.com website and find teachers near you. Guest guest
Hmmm, sounds like we shouldn't meditate on our own light either, since like the moon we are reflecting Sun's light. I have had many full moon mediations and find it to be a soothing, reflective and powerful time to incubate new ideas. I lovely moon contains, and carries the Sun's light to all beings in the night time, she lends a calming quality that is not lunie at all. I think that if we are influenced by the moon and NOT meditating on it then we might go loonie. Guest guest
Hello and Sat Nam, There is some truth to the moon's effect on lunacy. And it's interesting to talk about. Over the centuries people have noticed that susceptible individuals could go a little crazy ( even crazy in love) when the moon was full. I am a psychiatric nurse and those of us in the mental health field have taken notice of this too, but it doesn't seem to be caused by the moon's reflectivity as much as it might result from the moon's gravitional pull. This force is responsible for the shifting of the tides, which is easy to witness, but it also shifts the fluid that is in our own bodies. Our fluids are ionized, that is they carry an electric charge, and the fluid in our brains (cerebral spinal fluid) shift more or less dynamically as the moon orbits earth and pulls our fluids with it. As we all probably know, the brain has lots of electrical activity. I don't know if it's proven, but it has been theorized that the powerful force of a full moon causes a dramatic shift in the brain's fluid which in turn dramatically effects its electrical activity. If conditions allow, it can cause disarray in some people's minds. So, would that be a positive or a negative situation if we are meditating and want to implement changes in our mind? Could a state of temporary disorder give us a chance to reorganize anew? Hmmm. Guest guest
Sat Nam, the gravitational pull of the moon does change due to it's orbit around the earth. On it's way around the the distance differs around 40.000 km making the shape of the orbit somehow an ellipse. However, this change in distance does not correspond with a full moon or a new moon.
