I recommend you speak the truth. Money is one of the temptations that we face, and especially in tough economic times and more especially if there are others depending on us, it can be tempting to edit our comments to please a potential employer. Personally, I do not see a conflict. This is the same God that Jesus spoke of, but over the centuries, some churches have come to misunderstand Jesus' words, and pass those misunderstandings on to following generations. God is All - Everything - including us. Jesus said he was the son of God, and that we are all children of God. That is true enough. None of us is the whole God, so it would be fair enough, in a poetic sense, to say that we are all children of God. Christians instruct that we must let God into our hearts. That means the same thing as connecting with the Infinite. If your toe does not let blood or nerve impulses in from the rest of your body, that does not mean that your toe is not part of your body. That means that at that moment, your toe is not letting the rest of your body in. Again this is a poetic analogy, but it is just as important to let God (meaning the rest of the Infinite, and recognize that we are part of God) as it is important that your toe let blood and other things in from the rest of your body. I heard in a Christian church that God is everywhere. Yogi Bhajan said that if you can not see God in all, you can not see God at all. That sounds the same to me. Some Christians have gotten confused by the two statements about God being everywhere and how you must let God into your heart. On one level, a person could reason that if you do not let God into your heart, than God must not be there - but communication is limited by language, which is why we must have a direct understanding ourselves. Jesus could only point the way - people have to take the actually journey ourselves. That is part of what Jesus was trying to say. If the pastor does not see God as you do, than perhaps you belong somewhere else. Remember that the word " interview " includes the prefix " inter- " which means that you both are to view each other for the potential employer/employee relationship. Do your side of the interview by asking the pastor exactly how he understands God. You explain your understanding of God the best that you can. If the two of you agree, it could be a great match. If you do not, then you would not be happy in your job. Not being truthful to your spirit will cost your soul in ways that you may not see now. We are only in human bodies as part of a journey for our true selves, so it is important to not pay for our bodies with our spirits. Truth is your identity. Be yourself. Be truthful. Sat nam.
