Guest guest
Hello, recently I've been confronting myself whether closed hips are a myth in the matter of being a factor for an imbalance on the 2nd chakra or the psyche of people. Are there any credible sources (such as yogiji lectures 3HO publications) readily available in the internet that support opening hips in order to benefit the practitioner? Also, I would like to hear less credible comments.
Guest guest
I really see a correlation. When I started KY my hips were very tight. I had trouble sitting cross legged, (my knees were way up high,) and my low back ached from all the sitting. At that time I was struggling financially and was very emotional. (Sex, money and emotions are all second chakra energy.) Now it's seven or so years later...my hips are almost completely open, (left side is still a little locked at the groin and low back,) I feel in the flow financially, and have felt a lot of healing on a tantric level from the Kundalini Yoga practice and teaching. I love the cirlcling exercise sitting cross legged, the crow, and the butterfly with b of f. It is so freeing to unlock tight hips! They do seem to store control. I still struggle with the straddle. Also, taking the time to look nice (for me feminine) and enjoying your favorite foods, people, clothes, sunshine, etc...helps. The sensual... Guest guest
Dear " Baleada1 " and SatPal Kaur (Stephenie) -- It is not a myth. The human pelvis is the cradle of (all) human life, AND Kundalini too. If it's locked or blocked, so is your life. Without an open flexible pelvis in a woman, normal human childbirth is impossible. So " Enough Said " on this question. I've attached a " stick figure yoga diagram " with specific instructions on the most effective such exercise as taught by Yogi Bhajan (although the three you mentioned are essential companions). Please read all instructional notes carefully, each word is important. Especially on personal self-management, especially if one has a Kapha (heavier) type body, carrying more weight. It was taught in Los Angeles, and I've included it here as it was taught and as I have practiced it. I would be happy to respond to any questions you may have. Most inportantly, whatever one's question may be, an authentic answer exists. for many Blessings, Krishna Singh Khalsa Kundalini-Yoga , " baleada1 " <baleada1 wrote: > recently I've been confronting myself whether closed hips are a myth in > the matter of being a factor for an imbalance on the 2nd chakra or the > psyche of people. > Are there any credible sources (such as yogiji lectures 3HO > publications) readily available in the internet that support opening > hips in order to benefit the practitioner? > Also, I would like to hear less credible comments. >
Guest guest
Sat Nam, Hip openers are not really needed in a culture that squats to use the bathroom, and squats to do many tasks – from cooking, sewing and other craftwork to just hanging out and talking. You might be on to something with our 2nd chakra obsessed culture, though. By the way, folks who are naturally open in their hips (and other areas) - that is, many people who attracted to yoga – should be wary of “opening” too much. It can lead to serious injuries to ligaments and tendons, such as SI joint instability. This type of injury heals very slowly if at all and can create overall structural instability. If you are a very flexible person you would do well to look towards strengthening instead of opening. -- Blessings, Guru Karam Kaur

Guest guest
--- Ii have had a hip bothering me so much since trying these exercises. I tried to post earlier but it doesn't appear. I have had two natural childbirths and I am very narrow in the hips so I don't think it is of consequence. I have wide hipped sisters who needed c sections. But this morning whilst doing this I am in such pain -can anyone please shed some light on this and help me?n Kundalini-Yoga , " Krishna Singh Khalsa " <krishna wrote: > > Dear " Baleada1 " and SatPal Kaur (Stephenie) -- > It is not a myth. Guest guest
I find when I relax my jaw my hips relax and open. Try playing with relaxing the jaw as you do any hip opening exercises or vice versa and see what effect it has for you!
