Guest guest
Sat Nam, It seems that the best time to practice yoga is during Amrit Vela, which is between 4-7 in the morning--I've read that it has to deal with the available pranic energy at this time of the day, as well as the reduced electromagnetic energy around you (think about it--there aren't as many cell phones, tvs, radios, computers, etc. on at that time of the day). There are probably other implications as well to elect 4-7 AM as the preferred time to practice yoga. There shouldn't be a problem practicing earlier, but it shouldn't be considered more effective than doing it later than 7 or anytime between 4-7. In all, at least you're practicing your yoga! Guest guest
Sat naam jee, coming from a Sikh background, I can tell you 2am wake- up time is common among Sikh spiritualists. In fact, at Baru Sahib, sangat simran starts at 12:30am! I know, I was there for a month - no sleep for this Singh during that month ~~~~~~~~~~ " SADHANA!!!! Guest guest
2 or 3 am is too early for some people who need their sleep/healing. However it is best to keep this ideal set: 2 or 3 am. Guest guest
Sat Nam, how wonderful that you are inspired to do sadhana! I think 3 is the best choice of those you listed, but doing it before dawn is ideal, so whatever time, 2am on, sounds great! The point is to do it, right? Years ago, at KWTC, a small group of inspired women got up at 2 to do a special sadhana of their own, and then went to group sadhana at 4. Sometimes when I can't sleep in the middle of the night, I do sadhana rather than sleep through it later. Keep up! It's great you're doing it. Guest guest
Waaah! Thanks Daljit, I'm just getting to sleep at 12:30 or more nights than I care to mention, although there was time when I'd arose at 2am to do Tratakam (gazing meditation) before Sadhana. I know that in the Nam Dhari community no one is asleep past 2am. I think Yogiji was "reasonable" in prescribing that Sadhana should begin at 3:40 with Japji and ending by 6am with Diwan afterward. more info at http://amritvela.org Blessings all around, Dharam Millis, MA P.S. Tell me where Baru Sahib is so I can make sure I don't just "stumble" on to it. Guest guest
Main thing for sadhana is to do it! The recommended time is to do it in the ambrosial hours, just finishing as the sun begins to rise. What time do you do it in Alaska, Land of the Midnight Sun?
