I am doing a very modified version of bound lotus before bed at night because it

helps me

sleep. I get in the morning to do stretches and improve my flexibility for bound

lotus,

basically what I would otherwise do as warmups if I were doing bound lotus in

the morning.

If I do some spinal flexes, spinal twists, cat cow, etc. in the morning but

don't do a kriya, is

that bad because it is equivalent to " making up " my own kriya which we are not

supposed to

do?

Sat Naam Brian,

 

The sequence you are doing in the morning sounds a lot like the Opening the Chakras from Gururattan’s Books, and similar to the Basic Spine Flex Series.

 

Check them out and use them, then you are not “making up your own kriya”.
