Guest guest
Dear Channa, Sat Nam. " IF " you're saying that the realm of political life and discourse is not, should not be, cannot be discussed here, that doesn't align with the teacher or teachings that made this site possible. I will say there's never been a spiritual teacher in modern times who was more savvy and fluent " about " politics, and the exercise of wise political choices, nor more conversant with more world class politicians of all stripes and hues. We're not promoting politics, and we're not politicizing spirituality. But if a yogi is not super-aware of the political realm and how that affects our lives, and the conditions of humanity, then " heads in the sand " become traps of denial. A blindfold cannot be an effective escape from inner or outer danger. Life can be simple, and politics are easily corrupted. Yogis know both these realities and must self-organize, reconcile within them. Otherwise we could not " Be " in the world, accessible and credible, to the people we must reach. Walking away seems easier than facing corruption, but if we walk away eventually it will come back around to haunt us. Guest guest
Dear Channa, As has been stated before - everything is one. Sometimes I do not like what people talk about but most if the time there is something good to glean from this group. I am posting a letter to the editor because it is important at this time, I think, more than ever to express our feelings and thoughts about our history and realize we can change the world. September 14, 2008 To the Editor, As I drive around I see signs have sprouted over night for candidates. This is my reason for writing - to urge people to look at what the fate of this coming election has for us all. My son has just come out of Iraq safely, thank God, and he doesn't want to return. It's not because he's afraid. He left being a Republican and came back with the truth. This war, along with Afghanistan and possibly Iran (a country that hasn't been at war for 150 years) is unnecessary. It's about oil and being afraid instead of a pure humanitarian effort. Let America go and help the people in Dafur or Tibet where genocide and massive brutality go on, then we can lift our head again and be proud. Here are some stats from the Iraq war: U.S. TROOPS KILLED-4155 IRAQI CIVILIANS DEAD-90,000 U.S. WOUNDED-30,324 COST TO OUR COMMUNITY – 77,982,661 and counting My point > think before you vote. Know and understand very thoroughly what each candidate can and will do. There are differences and the person I choose will not go to wars needlessly draining our country or taking away rights. I wish for all of us to bring our country into alignment and not let it become even more of a police state (see reports of brutality et all at the RNC) than it has already. Let's hold ourselves accountable to the Constitution (http://www.madisonian.org), demand change, become involved and end this madness of terrorism – a campaign that goes no where. Please be aware that with the stroke of a pen, an American can lose his liberty, his right to retain a lawyer, and his right to a day in court to tell a judge his side of the story. The say-so of the president is not what the Founders meant by " due process of law. " Do you care about any of this? I discussed this with a friend today who said 90% of the people don't care – Prove him wrong. I'm asking you to care about your neighbor, your friends and family and to consider as much as you can before you act. Check every source that you can. Feel good about helping to change America's image, which is so needed. Kathe Forrest Kundalini-Yoga , " chanashappiness " <chanashappiness wrote: > > This is a site for kundalini yoga, Not Politics.
