Guest guest
Sat Nam, I am faced with mounting blood pressure and want to pracice kryias or other suggestions for high blood pressure, before starting medications which i hear make one have to urninate often. I have been taking HIV medications since 1995 and that may be leading to a bit of this. I have started doing a meditation that I got from Shanti Shanti Kaur in a workshop: Easy pose, gyan mudra, eyes closed-no focus specified. Inhale thru nose in 12 parts, Exhale thru mouth in one long breath To end, inhale one long breath and hold. Lock teeth hard, Exhale and relax the lock.(doing this ending four times). One of my students who is a hatha instructor (two teachers with high blood pressure,( I am not alone!) advised that a hot tea of 6 oz water, one tablespoon of Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar with minimal honey twice daily along with this meditation helped her. I've started the Bragg;s and am doing the meditation for 11 minutes twice daily. I welcome your suggestions. Thanks/Peace, John (Ram Das)
Guest guest
Sitali Pranayam is great for this.. Is the high blood pressure accompanied by high cholesterol..? Immediate relief is brought by a GREEN juice (all green leaves including celery in a 'masticating' juicer, like Champion or Oscar) daily, the high magnesium content relaxes and healthfully dilates the blood vessels.. To make it taste nice, add lemon, apple and ginger and dilute 50 : 50 with water.. In the case of high cholesterol, avoid (like the plague) flour products, sugar, and anything with heated vegetable oils.. Good oils: olive oil, virgin coconut oil, ghee (in moderation). Guest guest
Sat Nam Ram Das (John) - I have high blood pressure, and when I do sitali breathing (breathing with the mouth open through a curled tongue - like a hot dog roll!!) it lowers my blood pressure almost immediately. I sit in easy pose, hands in gyan mudra and breath for 11 minutes a day - usually later in the day when my blood pressure is likely to be elevated, not in the morning when it is normally lower. The other breathing I do to "cool down" - since high blood pressure usually means "heat" - is to breathe through the left nostril only. Pinch off the right nostril and just do long, slow deep breathing through the left nostril in a relaxed posture like easy pose. Hope that helps. Guest guest
Sat Nam It is now medically proven that beetroot juice lowers blood pressure (and has many other benefits). Also, diet has a huge impact and it is really important not to eat heavy meals. Guest guest
Sat Nam and Good Morning, We talk about lowering high blood pressure, what will balance blood pressure since there are those with low blood pressure. I know that if you are a runner, exercise or do yoga/meditation, your blood pressure will be lower, a healthy lower. Thanks.
