Guest guest
It is common for politicians to recycle ideas and approaches to different demographics and for it not to be considered plagiarism. No one has to credit FDR every time the phrase " New Deal " is used, or Bush ('s speechwriter) every time War on Terror is used. In fact, most of cable news is talking heads recycling the same talking points over and over. Obama is unique among presidential politicians in that he writes ALL of his own speeches. He writes the first draft, and then works directly with one editor to finalize the speech. Most politicians and certainly presidential candidates have a team of speech writers putting together the message of the day - that is why sometimes the speeches seem like a buffet of disconnected talking points aimed at each constituency of the available party, and a big reason why Obama's speeches resonate with coherence. Obama was accused of plagiarism for borrowing the theme of a former senate candidate - however, the theme was explicitly offered to the Obama campaign by the other candidate, so that meme did not catch on thankfully. Sarah Palin claimed that the teleprompter broke at the RNC convention and she winged her speech from the heart to the audience. Unfortunately, there were journalists sitting in view of the teleprompter the whole time, and this claim has been established as a demonstrable lie.
