Guest guest
I've had long hair my whole life, and it's heavy thick hair. I've done everything from ponytails, to flippy/clip, to french braids, to just wearing it open (VERY RARE), to wearing a turban. I find, for me, the best thing is a bun, chignon, rishi knot (or insert your term of choice), either at the very base of my neck or at the crown of my head (think baby's soft spot). If I wear it at the back of my head (point behind the eyes) I find that it affects my posture and leads to neck pain, esp when sitting in a chair or at the movies, but can be convenient when laying down (natural pillow ) I regularly use a salai-yee - which is a metal stick usually used by folks who wear turbans to guide the loose hairs back under the turban - it's similar to a bun-stick you can find in most accessory stores, but it's made of metal. As I have thick hair, I break most plastic clips and sticks. I have too much hair for a bun-cage (http://www.google.com/products?q=bun+cage & sourceid=navclient-ff & ie=UTF-8 & rlz=1B\ 3GGGL_enUS234US235 & um=1 & sa=X & oi=product_result_group & resnum=1 & ct=title) or the bun-wrap-clips - most mall's have an accessory store (Claire's) When my hair is wet, I usually twist-bun it loosely with a couple of metal clips when I don't let it air dry. Guest guest
Sat Nam, Sat Avtar First let me say how lucky you are to have this " problem " -- some of us have hair which refuses to grow really long, no matter what we do :+) However, my suggestion would be to either twist hair up at the crown chakra (I have curly hair and find a heavy elastic band wound round and round at the base of the hair after twisting the hair is sufficient to hold it up all day), or you could try braiding it. You can braid, then twist all into a bun, or have a long braid down your back. I imagine you probably should keep your hair long, which you body is telling you by your head being cold all the time. In regards to shedding, be sure to brush hair every day with a natural bristle brush. Also, I used to lose literally handsful of hair at every shampooing, to the point I thought maybe I'd be bald one day LOL! Anyway I had two different doctors, one an acupucturist and one an MD, tell me that such hair loss is caused by an IRON DEFICENCY. It made sense because I have always been borderline anemic. I took 3 iron tabs daily (of 29 mg. each, I think -- be sure to use natural iron or you'll be constipated something fierce), and in less than 3 weeks, guess what, no more shedding! YAY!! Hope this helps, Love and Peace Hari Shabad kaur Eagle Point, OR
