Guest guest
I had an interesting experience last night related to the cold shower. I had been to the dentist in the afternoon and had two crowns replaced. Lots of drilling and extra novacane. I taught Hatha Yoga that night, ( I teach and practice KY, as well.) After eating some fruit before bed I had a violent reaction...it felt like food poisoning. (I am normally perfectly healthy.) My body started purging...diarrhea, I felt clammy like I was going to vomit, and also like my period trying to start, all at once. It was very intense, I laid on the cold bathroom floor, and my intuition said, " Take a cold shower...sit down if you think you're going to faint. " I took one, and it cleared up everyting!! It jump started my system, I felt my bladder shrink, my organs got a shock, and all of a sudden I was okay! I shivered a little bit, the fever vanished, and I became comfortable and calm...and slept very soundly and deeply. I was so amazed and awed by the power of the cold water. I was praying the whole time, too. I'm not sure if the novacane caused such an intense release of toxins. I had done inversions in class, and maybe I shouldn't have. Has anyone else used the cold showers in a situation like this? It feels like for women when our reproductive system is preparing for mensturation, we don't have the energy and strength to fight off medications. I think I will schedule my dental work mid cycle from now on... SatPal Kaur
Guest guest
Sat Nam, SatPal Kaur, A similar situation occured at the health club where I work, about a year or so ago. A very active, very fit middle-aged woman had dental work done first thing in the morning, lots of novacane, and came to the club to play tennis for 90 minutes or so in the early afternoon. Then she took a hatha class to unwind. An hour or two later she had the same reaction that you describe and she had no idea what it was from or what to do about it. I happened to be in the locker room when the first symptoms appeared, and as she felt progressively worse, I suddenly understood that her physical activity had circulated that novacane residue throughout her entire body, causing the reaction. I also understood intuitively that a cold shower would help, so I got her, yoga clothes & all, under the running water in a shower stall (actually, both of us were under the water -- woah!) and held her up, moved her around, so that she got a pretty complete cold shower. Her symptoms immediately improved & soon disappeared. Someone else from the club helped her home & put her to bed, where she slept " like a log " & woke up feeling just fine. Management considered posting a sign advising that showers may be more effective if not taken when clothed -- but I don't know, that one seemed to do it for her! Guest guest
Thank you Nirvair Kaur, Wow! What a relief to read your post! It's fascinating to me how fast Yoga can purge toxins from the body. I am grateful that they have novacane...but I'd forgotten that it is a drug, and it has serious effects on the body. I remember reading somewhere that Yogi Bhajan said that if people took cold showers every day they wouldn't need doctors! I am going to contiue to utilize the cold showers. I have a renewed apprectiation for them now. (Initially I resisted and avoided them.) A nice side effect is that they have also improved my dancing! I have more speed and efficiency of movement.
