Guest guest
Sat Nam, This week I will be starting to teach one hour lunch classes, it's not a lot of time to fit in set, relaxation and a short singing meditation. Has any one good experiences of these kind of classes and can give me tips on sets that will work? Sat Nam JanErik
Guest guest
Hi JanErik, My KY classes are all an hour long. I find this time frame works best for beginners. We start with the mantras, then do a breathing exercise. Depending on the set, I give 15 mins. of warm-ups. If the kriya is complete, I just follow it and keep an eye on the clock. When the manual says to do something for several minutes, I give it to them for one minute, unless it's something where you work up to 108 repetitions. We relax about mins. I usually alternate between doing a meditiaton or a chant at the end, and then we close with Long Time Sun. I think you'll find an hour class is ideal for people who are new to Kundalini Yoga. When I first started, I took some hour and a half classes, and they were far too much for me to handle. For me, less is more, and being consistent is what has really helped. Everyone is different, but I add an hour of chants to my sadhana rather than pushing myself to extremes physically. Guest guest
Sat naam ji,This set makes a great 1-hour class: Bridge Series (Power to Heart) in Spirituality & Sexuality manual page 54. It has about 7 exercises, 3 of them very short, and an included 8-minute meditation at the end. With just 3 or 4 warm-up exercises going in, it fits very snugly into an hour class even w/ a 10-min shavasana.
