Guest guest
Sat nam, and thanks for the input I had how to arrange a one hour class. The people have different experience and flexibility but I think I have mangaged that alright. My question now is that one woman is paralysed from waist and below. She is very strong in her upper body and manages her wheel chair very well. But what can I teach her that will benefit her, I mean a lot of exercises she can't do at all? I have been thinking of maybe give her some different posture have her visulize doing the specified one? Any experiences or tips is warmly welcome. Thanks :-)
Guest guest
She can do it mentally. The chants, breathing, and group enetgy will help her as much as the physical work. I am amazed at the power of the mind to heal the body. If you use music, it will also help her to listen to the music as she does the kriya. There is an excellent article in O Magazine this month about how people with dementia and alzheimers benefit from singing and music. It uses a different part of the brain. I once took a tap dancing class from a man who had been Gene Kelley's understudy. He was paralyzed on one side of his body, and walked with a limp. When he put on his tap shoes and danced to the music, his weakness vanished, and he could dance perfectly! I'll never forget it. Once the tap shoes were off, and he finished the class, he was limping again. Satpal Kaur > > Sat nam, > > and thanks for the input I had how to arrange a one hour class. Guest guest
Sat Nam, I have googled this a bit, but can't locate either the article or the pictures of a paralyzed man doing yoga. He told of being all slumped down in a wheelchair and now he isn't. He does yoga, I think Kundalini yoga. The photo showed him sitting on the floor with his legs at a 60 degree angle. He teaches yoga classes and gives talks to others who are paralyzed. It was a wonderful article and I can't find it. The article may have appeared in one of the local throw away papers or something. (Seattle WA) The article would have appeared in 2007, I think. Blessings, Sat Avtar Kaur
