Guest guest
Something else that your student might not have considered, even though it seems obvious, is that lots of women are weight-obsessed in our culture. Not everyone can maintain the great hormone levels needed for perfect ovulation and maintenance of pregnancy if they are model- thin. 5-10 pounds might make a huge difference if she is thin, and it comes off easily with breast-feeding (ha ha, with the first anyway!) The ones who could most benefit from this suggestion are also the ones who are the most resistant to the message. But many of us have miscarriages and go on to have as many successful pregnancies as we want; encourage them to maintain a positive attitude! In the long run waiting a few years to get pregnant is practically nothing, which is difficult to believe when you're going through it.
