Guest guest
Sat Nam In the past year I have developed irritable bowel syndrome. I have difficulty digesting food, often have painful gas and very loose bowels. I have gone to a DO with a naturopathic approach and we worked to improve the symptoms through various diet changes. They worked for a while but recently things have gotten worse. I am also under a lot of stress with a new job, changes in the economic climate that everyone is dealing with, also working with a therapist to heal some very old emotional wounds that have been holding me back. Would appreciate suggestions from this community that could be helpful. Sat Nam Wahe guru kaur
Guest guest
Sat Nam! You can find good informations into the book " Food for Health and Healing " . There is also an easy kriya: " Healthy Bowel System " - p.359 The Aquarian Teacher - KRI International Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training Level One Yoga Manual. Guest guest
Sat Nam, Wahe Guru Kaur, This is an issue I can really speak to, as it happened to me. I had IBS for over 10 years. I never in all that time had a solid BM -- I had diarrhea every day, together with lots of gas, etc. I was worried that I would become malnourished or dehydrated. Luckily this never happened. I tried every holistic and/or natural remedy I and my holistic practitioners could think of. Probiotics by the armload, you name it, nothing even touched it. Finally my medical doctor, who specializes in Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, by the way, suggested ANTIBIOTICS since he figured this was an infection (bacterial overgrowth) of the small intestine. This is different than candida overgrowth, which I had also tried treatment for. Cipro is the preferred antibiotic to use for this condition, although I had a nasty allergic reaction to this and they switched me to oral Neomycin. Apparently it is very important to use the right antibiotic or this will be ineffective. The reason I'm giving all this detail is it took forever to finally figure out what was going on. I was initially very unwilling to take the antibiotics because I am very aware of overuse of anibiotics has wrought in our society, but in this case I can unequivocally recommend this treatment. I had a normal bowel movement a day after I started the pills (although I took them for the FULL 14 day course), and I have had no problems since. In this case it was certainly worth it to use the allopathic treatment. I was curious as to why the probiotics never worked, and I was told that when you have such a virulent overgroth of nasty bugs, they just kill all the good bugs you try to ingest -- the good beasties never had a chance. Naturally, I am not a doctor, so check with your own MD for specifics to your case. Of course, I am not dimissing the effect that stress or financial troubles might be having in your case -- but realize being stressed leaves you wide open to any bad buggies that might be lurking in your environment. I truly hope this helps, Love to you, Hari Shabad Kaur Eagle Point, OR
Guest guest
Waheguru Kaur, I was thinking about your post yesterday on my walk. Intuitively, I felt that eating fresh garlic, (maybe in a salad,) everyday would help. I kept getting, " intestinal bacteria or flora. " I hesitated to answer, but after reading the latest post from somweone who has walked in your shoes, I think this would help. Garlic is a natural antibiotic, and also will help strengthen your aura. There are many sets that heal the second chakra. They usually include butterfly, sitting in easy pose and circling around with the hands on the knees, crow pose, and cat/cow swinging the leg back and up and then bringing it into the forehead. Intense physical exercise, (any sport or art you love, that leaves you happily exhausted,) will help clear out stagnant energy. Because of the stress you are feeling, it sounds like getting grounded will help. (Establishing a consistent daily routine, using your talents, creating order, staying organized, etc...) All the best, Satpal Kaur > Sat Nam > In the past year I have developed irritable bowel syndrome. > I have difficulty digesting food, often have painful gas and very loose > bowels. Guest guest
After two years of daily diarrhea I did the "Healthy Bowel Kriya"* for just 40 days and the problem stopped. I'm a yoga teacher and even I didn't expect results like that! The key was to get the twist into the intestinal area, not further up. I practiced very carefully and intensely, using the power of my legs to push one hip toward the other. Together with a light mul bandh this massages the intestines. The idea is to move the reserve energy of the navel into the relevant area. My condition began after an India trip. Medical tests ruled out parasites and food poisoning, but suggested possible inflammatory bowel disease. My work with diet and supplements helped only partially and temporarily. Your condition is different and specific to you. Do not let my input substitute for personal consultation with a qualified healthcare advisor, but don't overlook this kriya, either. It is a gem for balancing the earth tattva and addressing all kinds of first chakra issues. *Owner's Manual Awtar Kaur Khalsa www.iDoYoga.com Kundalini-Yoga , "ltr9936" <lenorerothman wrote:>> Sat Nam> In the past year I have developed irritable bowel syndrome.> I have difficulty digesting food, often have painful gas and very loose > bowels.
