Guest guest
Is it ok to take a cold shower when you have a cold? Does it help/hurt the healing process? Thanks, Brian
Guest guest
Sat Nam Brian (aka Guru Pratap), During the beginning of a cold I, personally, avoid a cold shower. I also don't push my physical body in any way. Remember the old adage "lots of bed rest and warm fluids"? The wisdom in that is your body is trying to clear itself of Ama. To "push" it only drives 'Ama' deeper into your tissues and prolongs the process. Do mild yoga, if any. Drink gallons of ginger tea ( 1 lb. or so, of root boiled in a gallon of water with 15 blk peppercorns for 20 minutes. Add milk and honey to taste. substitute for milk ONLY if you have massive lactose intolerance). This will increase the heat in your system and you be fine much quicker. Hope that helps, Dharam Millis, MA nitawabrian wrote: Is it ok to take a cold shower when you have a cold? Does it help/hurt the healing process? The natural temperature regulatory mechanisms are already pressured during an infection. Sat Nam Dr Yogi
Guest guest
in re shower temp when sick: I was sick three days ago, at the end of '08, but decided to begin an ayurvedic cleanse in order to help get rid of my cold. here I am, a couple of days in, and I feel great! mung beans and rice every meal (ok to eat fruit and veg between, but no bread or dairy) 2 teaspoons of ghee before bed and upon waking and... upon waking and when going to bed... SUPER HOT SHOWERS! begin by heating some sesame oil and give yourself a thorough massage, then enjoy the shower! The whole idea here is to warm you inside and out, so that whatever is blocked in your bodily tissue/ fibers, it can release on its own, without being forced. I have gone from sore throat, bad cough, stuffy head, all over aches to little bit stuffy and a couple of coughs in the morning! Its great! sat nam dev atma singh
