Guest guest
Sat Nam! One of my students has chronic problem with her wrist. After several medical treatments and consultations her condition was diagnosed as Chondromalacia. Has anyone here have any experience with this condition? My specific problem is to determine how much pressure I can allow her to put on her wrist, especially, I need to decide if she can do such postures as triangle, front platform, back platform, cobra. Maybe someone here would also have any healing or dietary suggestion to treat such a condition. I have taught her how to make golden milk but I hope there is something else that can be done. Thank you, Vichar Kaur
Guest guest
Vichar Kar, If it hurts her to do the poses, she can go down on to her elbows. For triangle she can do dolphin pose. Instead of back platform pose she can do elbow platform pose. For cobra you don't need to use the hands much...you can use the back muscles so that there is no weight on the hands. Some students with wrist pain make fists with the hands for plank pose, (front platform) and downward dog. (triangle.) As time passes and her wrist heals, she should be able to use her hands for support again. Satpal Kaur > One of my students has chronic problem with her wrist. Guest guest
Sat Nam Dear All I am curious about this message since Chondromalacia - sometimes known as 'Runner's Knee' - is anterior knee pain caused by irritation of the cartilage under the knee cap. It has nothing to do with the wrists. Are you sure your student has not misunderstood, or misheard the diagnosis? Wrist pain can be treated most effectively by rehabilitating the shoulder which is where the problem originates.
