Sat Nam Dear Friends,

I wish you all wellness and express gratitude to all of you who

participate in this online channel. I read the posts daily and I

always have something interesting to think about.

In earlier posts of mine, I've addressed that I'm new at Kundalini and

so far I love the little bit that I've done. I've also been trying out

the EFT methods and find them completely AWESOME.

I haven't been to Kundalini class lately due to finances, but

prosperity happened to shower upon me and my children, as a dear friend

of mine, Lance, volunteered and paid for two months of yoga classes for

us! So this week I'm back on top of doing more practice. Yeah!

Although I am new to Kundalini, I have made it a goal to save enough

moula to attend Utah's first ever Level 1 Teachers Training in

September. I'm not in any position to teach, but I feel strongly about

attending as I feel it will serve me in getting into my body more. I

want to be able to control my busy mind. I feel confident Kundalini

will assist me this way.

With it being the beginning of a great year, I've been tying up loose

ends already and addressing my health issues as top priority!

Essentially I've been making doctor visits, having labs drawn, MRI

appointments and so forth to see exactly where my physical health is

doing well and where it could use some help.

I've also been fortunate to have participated with weekend workshops

with Arun Deva in Ayurvedic Medicine, Food, Yoga Psychology and Yoga

Therapy. What a gift, he's such a wonderful practitioner! I feel his

shared knoweledge has me on a good wellness path.

Well, today I went in for a check up and mentioned that my hair has

slowly been falling out and wanted to have my Thyroid checked out. My

provider took a look at my thyroid and said it was slightly enlarged on

the right side. She said I more than likely have Hyperthyroidism so

she sent some labs for further testing and referred me for a Thyroid

ultrasound.

With this information, my mother told me that we have several family

members with Thyroid issues, more Hyperthyroid with Graves disease.

I'm open to whatever the results may reveal, but I'm not all that

worried about it. I've been practicing different styles of yoga for a

while and I strongly believe and have witnessed over the years, that

when I eat an extra healthy diet and do yoga, my body is quite

responsive at rejuvinating itself. I've seen the results in past lab

tests prior to doing yoga and at yearly intervals, my labs have

improved significantly and are actually pretty outstanding. One year I

was diagnosed as having moderate heart disease risk, then the following

year of doing yoga and eating well, no risk existed whatsoever!

With this history in mind and knowing that my thyroid is out of

balance, I feel that perhaps there is something more I can do with

Kundalini to get my thyroid in check. I have such strong faith in how

the body can heal itself, if provided with much love and nurturing.

I'd like to ask of you out there for any feedback on what you all know

about the thyroid and how it relates to Kundalini. I would appreciate

your willingness to share your wisdom that you gained form personal

experience and that of YB. I'd like to help out my little thyroid,I

actually like it quite a bit!;)

Love to all of you,

Steffi

greeetings,i've been dealing with a hyperthyroid and graves disease for more than 10 years so am happy to speak with you about my experience. in the very beginning my resting heart rate was over 100, i could eat anything and not gain weight, had energy like a speed freak, and thought i was stressed and going a little insane. blood work revealed otherwise. once diagnosed with hyperthyroid, i knew i wanted to deal with it holistically because all the treatments i read about sounded terrible, all leaving you with hypothryoidism. but my endocronologist said i could take medicine and feel better within days. he put me on PTU and sure enough, i felt better as he said. but 1 year later they had to take me off of it cause it affected my liver. he wanted me to do the radiation, which i refused. i was

only considering the surgery, which is rarely used anymore because of the simplicity and 'safety' of drinking radioactive iodine. long story short, for the purposes of this site, i've managed to balance my thyroid through meditation, chinese medicine, acupuncture, nutrition, and various other natural modalities. i did have graves disease and ended up needed 2 surgeries on my right eye. but that's all fine now as well. i have many things that i could suggest to you and a great natural doctor in california, that works from a distance, who has a lot of experience with thyroid, that has helped me tremendously over the past year or so. if you'd like to talk further, offline, give me a call at 917 626 5999.hyperthyroidism is not fun, and does need to be dealt with because of the stress it causes to your whole system. give me a call and know that there are things you can proactively do to help heal

I would suggest sets with exercises like shoulderstand and plough.

Also include seaweed in your diet.

I would think that any kriya for the 5th chakra would be helpful. There

is one titled For Creativity in The Kundalini Yoga Experience by Guru

Dharam Kalsa and Darryl O'Keefe. Part of YB's comments at the end

are " This set is a complete workout for the thyroid and parathyroid " .

Hope this helps.
