Guest guest
To add some encouragement, please don't let anyone tell you not to practice kundalini yoga. There is so much technology out there that it's getting easier and easier to get into it.The whole point of KY is to spread yoga without the process of teacher-student initiation. Yogi Bhajan's first meditation from his teacher was to sit for hours and repeat the mantra "I am not initiated".At the same time, make sure you get good sources of kundalini yoga. YouTube is not doing so well for some people, even experienced teachers, who don't consult their notes properly before posting. Make sure your manuals and DVDs are KRI approved. Even with KRI approval, though, there are many mistakes. My point is, even experienced teachers are not in agreement with which 'version' of a set is proper. It's a long story, but the upshot is that yet again, we don't necessarily need a teacher. That being said, please open yourself to this: Kundalini yoga is taught by a community. Teachers are very important, and the teacher-student relationship is very rich in the KY community. Try to become part of the community because it will make your practice so much deeper. Come to summer or winter solstice, or at least to the nearest white tantric course. Meet other kundalini yogis. Keep posting here and asking questions. Follow your heart. Remember, you are not just doing kundalini yoga out of impulse or disposition. You are destined to do this yoga in this lifetime. Nothing can stop you from reaching your potential.sat nam,-Baba Singh
Guest guest
That being said, KY Yoga is probably the only Yoga you will see being taught by teachers of 25+ years who sit down and open a book to teach you. For many people coming from other forms or yoga, who don't understand KYs history, that may seem like a weak point. But to us, it's a matter of integrity and dignity (and to some extent memory... there's just too much out there to know it all by heart) But, do a form for 40, 90, or 120 days, and I would guess you can probably say, yea, I know it (by heart).... But it takes 1000 days to master it, and there just ain't enough hours in this life time to master all of it... You just need to know where to look it up! -Fateh Kundalini-Yoga , baba singh <baba_sf wrote: > > To add some encouragement, please don't let anyone tell you not to practice kundalini yoga. Guest guest
Right, and those teachers who open up the books are professionals and they watch over the students. I find it amusing the onslaught of replies on this. I understand that most people here are pushing a product and are taking my comment far too personally, when it was a merely an honest and simple reminder. Let's not forget that yoga is between a teacher and student, and yes, we are encouraged to practice everyday, obviously. Heck, we're encouraged to rise for 4 am Japji reading.
