It is so amazing to practice all these yrs and still have questions!

However as my awareness grows so do my questions!

What is the hand position in Sat Kriya?

" Interlocking the fingers and the index finger pointing straight

up... " Kundalini Yoga Sadhana Guidelines

However my question is crossing thumbs does it matter for men and

women, which one results in being last?

Sat Nam,

Yogiji originally taught Sat Kriya with the hands pressed flat together,

arms hugging the ears. He instructed those who had used legal or illegal

drugs to interlock all but the index fingers.

If your body is not disturbed by drug use, I suggest going full blown in

Sat Kriya. It is so powerful, magnifying ten times your penetration

through the veil of illusion to the purity of Nam, of God. And your

resonated projection of Sat comes back a thousand times to you with the

power of Nam at your navel, making you a Godly being. Sat Nam is the

sound of the breath, the inhale and the exhale. It was Guru Nanak's

Guru, the essence of all ten Gurus and the True Identity of all beings.

Loving blessings to you on your pranic journey,

I think it's the same as the post talking about the thumbs Venus lock:

" Men - right thumb closer to the body. Women - left thumb closer to

the body. "

But as far as the flat palms vs interlocked versions... Well, first of

all, there are many versions of Sat Kriya.

I recently had this come up in teacher training, because I've heard

many people say that you should stick with interlocked unless you are

free of drugs or OCD. And I questioned the reasons why.

The answers I got are basically that interlocked is a lock. It's just

a completion of the circuit. If you have used drugs or have OCD it's

probable that you will not be able to keep the lock strong with just

the palms pressed, and so will struggle with controlling, and

channeling the energy.

I think Sat Kriya is particular is one of those 'oh so subtle'

exercises that you can do everyday, but not immediately realize or

feel exactly how much it can or does do for you.

I would point out that for example, that in my experience it has

always been taught that you should always rest for twice the time you

conduct the kriya. Many people only rest an equal amount of time, or

not at all afterwards.

However, I find the energy really flows and manifests during the

second rest period and becomes present only when you allow for it to

take form. (And yes, this means if you do Sat Kriya for 31 minutes,

you rest for 62 minutes!)

Anyways... without getting into talking about Yogi Bhajan and his

mastery of the subtle teachings, and his care for protecting his early

students (many of whom were into drugs)... I guess that's the long

answer you.

And yes, for men, keep the right thumb over left (which has to do with

polarities -- see the venus lock post above).
