Sat Nam,

In October 2008, my husband and I opened Tenth Gate Center for Yoga

and Meditation in Portsmouth, RI. Some people thought we were foolish

to start a new business at this time. We never hesitated. We truly

trusted that we would do well. The entire undertaking seemed divinely

guided. Everything we needed came to us when we needed it.

Since the blessing (Thank you EkOngKar Singh and Firdousi), our

classes have been filling. We have many new practitioners to Kundalini

Yoga, and we have heard over and over again how this yoga has already

changed lives.

We are very grateful that students keep coming. A beautiful community

is building. We are thanked daily by our students for opening Tenth

Gate. We remain optimistic that all will be well. We refuse to focus

on all the doom and gloom talk and worries about what is coming. We

are grateful for what we have day to day and remain firmly rooted in

the present. And that is what we are teaching our students.

With love and gratitude,

Reinette

Greetings and happy last day of February. I teach four classes a week,

three in my home and one in a community yoga center that is well

established and offers several styles of yoga and meditation. Classes

at the yoga center have remained static while the classes in my home

have grown from one to two students to eight and ten over the past few

months. People who are showing up are mostly new to yoga and certainly

new to Kundalini yoga. They seem to know that this is the path for

their lives right now.

I am no different than those who walk through the door in my

experiences of fear, helplessness and at times hopelessness at the the

webs of deception and corruption being revealed now. I feel so blessed

to have these teachings and practices to put to use in my life to bring

my awareness back to my connection, Ek Ong Kar, and to be able to share

this technology with my fellow humans. I am experiencing the effect of

the 'forklifting' ability of teaching Kundalini Yoga.

Sat Nam & keep up!

I finally got things going in my little tiny studio on my property. I have

about 3 students at a time, which is a good start, especially with such a small

room.

In discussion a few months back on this group about the economic crisis and the

chaos as we transition to the Aquarian Age, someone made the point that we

should not make cost prohibitive for people who want/need the yoga. So instead

of having the going rate for the area, $14, I am going with a nice round $10 (I

have very low overhead since my studio is on my land too) and making it clear to

students and prospective students that I have a sliding scale for those who

truly need it and I am open to barter for such things as yard work, gardening

help, or homegrown organic veggies. I have more than 3 students but they

haven't all come on the same day. Yesterday after class two stayed and helped

me with yard work. It was great.

I've had to put my Kundalini Yoga classes on hold until I get my new

studio built. (a couple more weeks.) I also teach Hatha Yoga at a

health club, and I've noticed that those classes have gotten bigger!

People seem to sense that Yoga will help them to relax, stay calm,

and not panic.

I've decided to take a chance and instead of feeling fearful, have

taken advantage of the low commercial rents right now. (I'm in LA and

found a 420 square fooot space to fit my budget.) They even are

giving me my first month's rent free, and a five year option.

Although it was difficult to get a loan at the bank, I went to the

SBA and they are giving me a start up loan. Because I'm a woman in

business, I'm considered a minority. It will cover the cost of the

floor, barres, mirrors, insurance, advertising, etc...(I teach

ballet, as well.) I don't think I would have made this leap if it

hadn't been for the economic situation.

Some of my students have cut back from say 4 classes a week to 2, but

new ones are calling. Art is so healing. I offer 9 weeks at $90.00.

People tell me that if they stop, they notice how much better they

felt when they were taking class. It's the same for me with sadhana.
