Guest guest
Greetings, fellow yogis! Keval Kaur Khalsa here, Director of the Dance Program at Duke University in Durham, NC. I want to cordially invite you to a conference that we are hosting at Duke March 19-22 -- Across The Threshold: Creativity, Being & Healing. It's going to be fabulous -- with shaman Bradford Keeney, dancer/choreographer Vincent Mantsoe, visual artist Cici Stevens, cultural ambassador Baba Chuck Davis, and presenter/workshop leaders from all over the globe! Bradford Keeney will open the Conference with a keynote address " SHAKING: The Original Path to Ecstasy and Healing " on Thursday, March 19. On Thursday afternoon, he will conduct a special pre-conference workshop, " LIFE FORCE THEATRE: An Introduction to Shaking Ecstasy. Bradford Keeney, Ph.D., has been called " an all-American shaman, the Marco Polo of psychology, and an anthropologist of the spirit " by the editors of Utne Reader. Elders of indigenous traditions throughout the world – including the Kalahari Bushmen, the Caribbean Shakers of St. Vincent, the Guarani Indians of the Amazon, and leaders of the Japanese healing tradition of Seiki Jutsu – have embraced Keeney as an elder and spokesperson for the old ways of ecstatic shaking. Vincent Mantsoe (South African dancer/choreographer extraordinare) will be performing a solo work, EBHOFOLO (This Madness) on Saturday as part of the Conference. Vincent's eclectic movement vocabulary stems from his philosophy of bringing cultures together in his work towards understanding and remembrance. Vincent's words: " If we work hard towards having the Respect, Understanding, Commitment, Knowledge of others and being passionate and positive about what we want to achieve in our lives, great things will happen to all of us. I am Nature I am a Spirit I am living Soul I am you, and you are my reflection! " The conference has been 2 years in the planning, and our vision is to bring together practitioners and scholars from the arts, the medical field/healers, and from spirit-based communities and traditions to explore and share different paths leading to expanded consciousness. I hope you will consider joining us! Please check out the Conference website at www.duke.edu/web/threshold for all the details of the Conference and to register. You can register for the entire Conference or per day, and special student rates are available. Please note that the pre-conference workshop with Bradford Keeney requires separate registration.
