Guest guest Posted March 4, 2009 Report Share Posted March 4, 2009 Need advice please on how to concentrate/visualize while chanting in the L format from crown to third eye Chakra and picking up the emotional memories needing to be cleared. I keep getting a headache, so I cannot be doing it right. Any suggestions from those who have done this would be greatly appreciated. Guest guest Posted March 5, 2009 Report Share Posted March 5, 2009 Sat Nam Ji, try relaxing everything and building up from a base of relaxation rather than forcing yourself into a imagined state that you haven't actually yet experienced successfully. We aren't what we " think " we are, and yoga is not what we " think " either. It's a state of ease and wonderful energy at the same time. So you think you know what unfamiliar state you " should " impose on this practice, but obviously the headache is saying " something is not working. " Try some " ease and wonder " and see what happens. Ask for guidance from the INNER TEACHER we call on when we chant Ong Namo Guru Dev Namo. It sounds as though that teacher within you currently may be unemployed and looking for some good work to do on your behalf. At any rate, you can always ask in this way. This inner teacher is your closest friend. It is amazing and powerful and wonderful, so i will share with you what i know of it. What is do is apply a light jalandhara bandha, by lifting my chest and sternum up and dropping my chin very slightly, in order to release, open and relax around the base of my skull. A few spinal flexes beforehand, or even a light kriya, based on spinal/neck flexibility is good. So you are nice and relaxed before you start. You can even do the Wahe Guru kriya before, so you are open in the neck and energy is already flowing into the higher centres in your brain. The L shape for the sounds is simple, " S " through the centre of the top of the head, to touch the pineal in the brain, " a " out through the front of the head, to get the pituitary. keep your eyes relaxed, cover your head. If none of this works, i would suggest going on a detox for 40 days and trying again after. But Do it!!
