" ~ Snatam Kaur Delve into the art of Classical Indian Kirtan as taught by contemporary kirtan luminary Professor Paramjeet Singh. Professor Paramjeet Singh hails from a strong musical lineage in Patiala, India, and has devoted his life to sharing his knowledge with interested souls in Vocal, Harmonium and Tabla Studies. His performing and teaching career has spanned half of the globe, and he has also taught in a university setting for over six years. This weekend-long course will consist of voice exercises which are at the foundation of classical kirtan. Improving the voice range to 4 octaves, enhancing the strength and timbre of the voice and maintaining tonal purity are some of the important techniques Professor Paramjeet teaches during his workshops. Professor Paramjeet Singh will teach in the tradition of classical Indian ragas. He will also teach how to sing Gurbani Kirtan (Sacred Hymns of the Sikh tradition), and mantras for sadhana practice. Participants will be treated to healthy vegetarian lunches and class breaks for traditionally prepared Indian chai. Recordings of all course material will be made available for download at the conclusion of the course.
