Guest guest
Sat Nam, it is hard for me to focus on an exact question as I have lived through a bipolar diagnosis and medications galore for the past 20 years. I've been practicing KY for 10 years now on and off, and it seems the times I manage to put some continuum to my practice really help. However, without exception, the aftermath of Winter Solstice in the past few years has been a soaring to a place higher in mood/energy that my system could not cope with, this has affected my daily life negatively in my relationship to myself and to the people close to me. It seems I acquire this incredibly valuble magic potion only to overdose on it! That is then followed by a long bout of depression. This pattern has gone on long enough that I felt I need to seek help/advice....I am aware that meds can take me only so far. I am aware if I do KY regularly I probably won't have so much zigzagging raw energy to deal with - but seeing the potential of KY on myself has made me reluctant to continue teaching though I still feel it is a powerful healer when utilized correctly. So my question is this, as I drag through a very depressed period -- any resources/healers out there who work with bipolar patients? I am at the lowest point I have felt and I would like this to at least trigger some positive action on my part to shift out of all the negative garbage I have accumulated over the years. I would be grateful to hear about any clinics/ashrams or chances for immersion to help me in chsnging my habit patterns. The latest and last resort remedy! I have been offered is ECT - seems to me the yoga could accomplish better and more permanently a change than shock treatment. My problem is activating myself to do it. I am willing to travel and stay a length of time in a community I might benefit from...Any feedback on the Millis ashram? There is not really a community here that I can get support from. KY has helped me in the past. It has also helped me create issues I am left to sort through alone. And I am really tired of trying to go through it alone. Thank you for listening. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated. Sat Nam, blessings and thank you all for your support, Mangala Charn Kaur
Guest guest
Months ago there was a post about scientific evidence that So Darshan Chakra Kriya helps with Bi-polar disorder. Sorry, I don't have any info about opportunity for immersion in an ashram. Guest guest
It sounds as though you're responding to an earlier question from someone else. I didn't see the earlier inquiry. David Shannahoff-Khalsa has done a book, however, which details in clinical trials with medical doctors how Kundalini Yoga kriyas and mantras can ameliorate certain clinical dysfunctions. Namely, bipolarism, OCD, and others. I have his book at home and if this would be of interest to the original poster, would be happy to check full title and ISBN and provide.
