Guest guest
Sat Nam, RE David Singh Shannahoff Khalsa's explanations, there is a small natural dip in the temples at about the level of the eyebrows. You find it by feeling around with the thumbs. RE locking the back molars together--the molars stay pressed together while you alternate pressing harder between the left molars and then harder between the right molars. This fluctuation vibrates the jaw when done quickly. Loving Blessings, Guru Prem Kaur http://www.yogagems.com
Guest guest
Sat Nam,Regarding the placement of the thumbs: Just press the thumbs into the temple area. There's a slight notch there which you may or may not sense the first time. After some practice the meditation will guide you to the proper spot. Regarding the teeth: The locking of the back molars serves to put a pressure at the temples where the thumbs are and that is the interplay of the mudra with the meditation. Just clench the molars together and keep the the teeth against one another as you alternately squeeze them togehter and release the pressure-- continue clenching and releasing and feel the pressure this creates with the thumbs at the temples. Hope that helps.Patrick Lachohttp://www.KundaliniYogaBootCamp.com↑ Grab this Headline Animator
Guest guest
Sat Nam Abner,One of the things about Dr. Shanahoff-Khalsa's book is that there aren't pictures for the meditations, only verbal descriptions, which can be a challenge. But the meditation is well represented there: the "niche" is simply your temples (where some people rub to make a headache go away); "alternating the pressure" means to rhythmically press the molars together (without letting them separate) in the typical chewing motion to the syllables of the mantra. You should be able to feel the muscles around the temples move under your thumbs if you are pressing the teeth correctly (and this will help you locate the temples, as well). This meditation is called "Medical Meditation for Habituation" in Guru Rattana's book "Relax and Renew".Good Luck,-Baba Singh
Guest guest
Sat Nam, Sounds like this has been covered pretty well...... but this may help http://www.gongsongs.com/images/Addictions.jpg This is from either the out-of-print "Survival Manual" or the, also, out-of-print "Kundalini Yoga for Specific Applications", too tired to check.
