Guest guest
SAT NAM We have a Gong Fund at our studio that is building steadily. Our hearts were set on a 32 " Paiste from Germany, but the cost of 1500 euro's (500 for airfreight!) is seeming an awful lot. We're re-thinking our choice of Gong and would love to hear your opinions on the various makes. Guest guest
Sat Nam, Arjan Singh -- Here's a website ( " Gongs Unlimited " ) that might be helpful for exploring the spectrum of gongs. http://www.gongs-unlimited.com/paistegongs.html This link takes you to their presentation of Paiste gongs, so you can have a common benchmark to see what you're getting (or " not getting " ) with an alternative product. I'd love to hear what your decision will be. Guest guest
I have a Stagg 28 " for my small yoga studio, and it was recommended to me by another Sikh in this forum as worth a try. It was also a third the price of a 28 " Paiste. I love it. Larger ones have even deeper and richer tones, but I have such a small intimate studio that I didn't want to be peeling my students off the ceiling in case in the throes of gonging them I went a little deep myself and might not realize the impact. 28 " seems perfect for my approximately 14' x 16' room. Guest guest
Sat Nam Arjan,Paiste symphonic is the way to go in my opinion. I know several people that just got 32" Paiste gongs and paid under $1000 for them, which I believe would be around 700 Euros total. I don't know why in the world a 32" would cost you 1500 euros. That sounds like a gigantic rip off. It would probably be cheaper to have someone fly round trip to personally pick up the gong and then check it as their luggage on the way back than it would be to pay that ridiculous shipping cost you cited of 500 euros.Sat Nam
Guest guest
Just be sure that you are using a symphonic quality gong as other gongs do not have the same effect on the body. I use the smallest Paiste symphonic gong which is only about 22 inches, but has great sound and effect. Kartar Kaur
Guest guest
I have bought several Gongs over the years from Andy's Music in Chicago. We have the 40 inch Pastie & love using it. I like the 50 inch better but it is 2X the cost. Andy has an 80 " gong. See my sight for pictures & tell Andy that DrYogi recomended him. Get a good stand, the big one, not the small one! Also get the Pastie Gong mallet, 4, 5 or 6, or all 3. You might enjoy the Theraputic Gong CD(me) & Gong Yoga(Matab Singh) DrYogi Dr Hari Simran Singh Khalsa San Frncisco, Ca.
