Guest guest
My wife was going to do a speech at Toaastmasters on the gong and it's therapeutic value. I looked on the web for studies or anecdotal evidence and found nothing. Does anyone know of any studies done on the gong or have any stories of how gong therapy helped them or someone they know? Guest guest
Gurubandhu - I have only all the benefits that were taught in my teacher training, and my own first-hand knowledge of the benefits. To know the gong and its benefits - one must experience it. Having studied homeopathy for years, I attribute the benefits much the same as homeopathy - the way homeopathics spiral disease out of the body, the gong does the same thing, instead of driving disease and illness deeper into the body. The gong not only allows release, the vibration heals as it goes. Some people experience bliss immediately, while others have described the feeling of wanting to run screaming from the room because the sound vibrations of the gong brought up so much " stuff. " My husband says the gong put him to sleep. One student told me, after her first gong experience in my class that she hated it because it brought up her past PTSD. I thought to myself " oh well, I guess I lost a student! " . I called her a couple of days later just to check in and explain that quite possibly while she " thought " she had worked thru all her PTSD issues, that perhaps there was still more to process. " She wasn't convinced, but she showed up again the following week specifically on the day I play the gong, and now she doesn't miss a class. She says she loves it now, and learned a lot about how her body processes old fears. I hope this has helped. I am sure there are others who can share many other experiences even more valuable than what I have just shared here.
