Guest guest
I am having a dilemma... How many of you are paying SOCAN royalties for your classes, for permission to ethically use CD's of artists/musicians? Do you get permission from the artist directly? Do you just use the CD's and not worry about it? I looked into it (here in Canada) and for an independent KY instructor, that doesn't teach out of dance studios nor yoga studios (use rec centres), SOCAN wants me to pay $64 minimum year. Does anyone know if most KY musicians or the composers/musicians of the music we use in KY are registered with SOCAN (america or canada)? Is this something we collectively need to worry about? Of course now that I have inquired I was being peppered with calls wanting to know when my next class/session was and when I was going to complete the form. I want to maintain good karma and do the 'right' thing with giving ownership to the music as we/I do with KRI and the teachings of Yogi Bhajan. Anyone inquired this with KRI or IKYTA? This is my next email out? Peace & Harmony, Judy (Jagpaul) Calgary, Alberta
