grassroots needed to protect organic food and natural supplements

Sat nam Volks! No matter how small government should be, in my opinion, it always, whether big or small, will be controlled by those with the means for influence. That goes for all markets, including health care. And, as I've written before, for Big Pharma, Big Agra and Big Medica, government is a tool, as for all businesses, to screw the smaller competition (while lying that the regulation is good for the consumer). Competition, for the big businesses in health, are the purveyors of unindustrial (organic) food, nonprescription drugs (supplements), and nonlicensed (or barely licensed) medical providers/healers. The latter three blessings, thus, always and severely, are under assault, with government as the mere weapon of the powerful. So it should

surprise no one that a Food "Safety" bill, pending in the Senate after having just passed the House, while protecting us marginally, perhaps, from SOME contamination, definitely will cut our access to SOME organic farm produce, and SOME (especially high dose) supplements. While the bill includes language exempting some small farmers or businesses from the additional regs (remember, mom-and-pop country farmers already suffer from extensive rules), the bill fails to explicitly exempt DSHEA-covered supplements and nutrients from the bill. The natural health movement buried Congress in 1994 with visits, faxes, letters and emails, to pass DSHEA, which protects supplements from heavyhanded FDA smothering, which is exactly what FDA, with Big Pharma backing, intends to do if we don't stop them.
