Guest guest
sat nam, mastery... hmm... itself is an interesting concept. yogi bhajan said mastery comes after 1000 days of doing something... but in many other instances said things like... you can master this easily, or " 40 days if you are sharp " . I believe the 1000 days benchmark is a random kibble... he may as well said, there's no such thing, do it for the rest of your life everyday... or come back to me after 3 years. but then he'd have hundreds of people coming back to him every 3 years. so, do you desire mastery, or are you open to giving in to something to experience its full effects and learn from it? i believe part of mastery is being totally humble to something... letting it take you over. and in that respect, you are willing to take something on, and let it take you on, until it becomes a mutual merger. you have to continually adjust too, to advance... adjust to advance. so, to that end, i don't really understand the question... are you asking if you inhale sat and exhale nam? that was the first lesson in KY yoga... it's always been in that order as far as I know. when you speak you exhale. so: inhale. sat. exhale. nam. = complete cycle. yes? doing it silently. first thing you must do is pronounce it crisply! yes. then second thing is listen very closely. true! then. visualize energy moving up. visualize it coming down. complete the circuit. love -Fateh
Guest guest
and if I may just amend my post slightly... is " 1000 " just a " random kibble " ? well... not really. what I meant is that the number is insignificant, and it's not what you should focus on. but 1000 has significance in numerology. like 10, it's your soul body, plus your radiant body. plus two more zeros... which I like to think of as representing surrender and infinity. so 1000 in yogic numerology could mean... the point where your soul and radiant body, through complete surrender, merges with infinity. which is one way of looking at 'mastery'. -fs
Guest guest
Dear Yogi/Yogini, may I ask why you intend to practice Sat Kriya silently? My personal understanding is that it might not be such a god idea to do so, especially if you go for mastery. Speaking the Mantra out loud in this Kriya regulates the breath and rhythm. It might even be that it sets and corrects the posture and the mindset. But maybe we are talking here about a Sat Kriya I have not heard of so far, a silent Sat Kriya (?). Many thanks in advance for clarification. Sat Nam Karta Purkh Singh, Hamburg
Guest guest
Just chant softly or in a whisper, making sure that you move the mouth. Many people think that they have to be loud (or very loud!)which isn't always so great for domestic harmony. I knew one guy who did Sat Kriya for 2 1/2 hours a day and was forced to go outdoors because the management of his apartment threatened to evict him. Either way, loud or quiet, the breath will regulate itself. Good luck with it, Sat Kriya has been in my practice for many years and has served me very well. Guest guest
Sat Kriya is not a silent meditation, the instructions specify that you must chant Sat Nam. It doesn't say whisper. It doesn't say mentally, silently. It's out loud. The breath in this meditation is not specified therefore finding instructions for how to breath would be making things up. Just follow the instructions as they were given.how do i practice sat kriya silently, with the breath Posted by: "getslimmight" getslimmight getslimmight Thu Aug 13, 2009 7:30 pm (PDT) i want to master this kriya and im trying to master other things as well pls help me out, thank you
