From Yogi Bhajan, 32 years ago today…September 12, 1977

Although I personally feel Yogi Bhajan's most important teachings for us were

the actual Kundalini yoga/meditations and White Tantric, his actual words show

me some guideposts to live the teachings. I recall that Yogi Bhajan defining

the " art " of Kundalini yoga/meditation as how one applies it to their lives.

 

I happen to have some " old' original lectures and found two sections to share.

The first has to do with time for exercises/kriyas; the second the sunshine song

and change.

 

Please note this will be long post and that it is from the vernacular of that

era…this is 1977; most likely Los Angeles.

 

 

Story about times:

Once somebody said to a holy man, to a sage, " Why should I bow to you? " The

sage reply, " Son, bow! " The disciple bowed. After bowing he rose and the

teacher said, " I never said to get up. " I said, " bow " . The student bowed, and

the teacher left. On the fourth day he came back. The guy was there totally

bowed. The teacher said, " How is it? " He looked up, he said, " Sir, I am

bowing. " He said " Nice, keep it. " He left. After four days, he returned for

the other side. First he went to the north, this time he went to the south. He

came back. He said, " How is it? " The disciple replied, " What? " He said, " This

bowing. " He said, " Sir…who?, what? " The teacher hugged him, he lifted him, he

raised him and he said, " Rise. " To the surprise of the sage, the disciple rose

and rose and rose and rose eight feet from the ground, ten feet from the ground.

The sage said, " Come back. " He started coming back. It was a mystery to him.

" Sir, you said to rise, I rose. If you would not have stopped it, I would have

gone to through the sky. " The sage said, " Yeah. Bless you, Bless you. Bless

you. Now you have learned how to bow and now you have learned how to rise. Now

everything shall rise in you. " If you ask an American to bow he will say, " How

many seconds? " Ask him to " Do this kriya. " He will reply, " Sir, 15 minutes or

31 minutes? Will 11 minutes do? "

 

Story about Sunshine Song

May the long time sunshine upon you…This is our prayer. You know where I picked

up this song? There was commune, the Hog Farm, which represented the Woodstock

nation special characteristics, and I was a member of that commune. If the

Indian Sikhs will ever know it, they will hang me up. How could you ever be a

Sikh? Anyway, I was their member, and this was the song we used to sing. And

from that day, that commune has gone into infinity as the memories of those who

remember this beautiful evolution of mankind. Still, we sing this prayer, and a

person who sang it was loaded, I think with thousands of units of LSD. I had to

bring him back to the earth for the passed-out heavens, but when he came back he

was singing.

 

Sometimes, I would like to record my memories. You may not print them and sell

them or read them, but I represent an era where the human soul took God inside

and revolted against the mightiest materialistic fascist human tragedy. I shall

continue to serve that era and I hope you will come along with me. Change is

inevitable, but if we change to that one which gave us the Oneness of man and

grace of the God, we shall come in wonderland for wonderful reasons. I assure

you, God shall not judge you. God shall receive you. This is the Age of

Aquarius. It may be difficult to understand the change, but change we must.

May our prayer meet those who laid down their lives to bring this change, who

suffered in silence to bring the evidence of human uprise, in trust of God,

towards the God and to the uplifting of mankind and radiance of God, Sat Nam.
