Guest guest
Hi Sukhnivas, > ...how many qualified teachers would of been able to give the OCD routine? I would imagine most > teachers would have little to no experience of it, and would probably suggest standard KY practices. I think we would maybe get the benefits better if we had great teachers but we can't all have that. I don't think you use yoga to get a specific cure for a definite problem. It is more a process of all over de-stressing and problems like RSI (which I suffered from) & OCD just gradually dissolve away. The 'cure' comes from your time and hard work and your increasing self-knowledge. A 'master' might speed it up but the genuis of the K yoga kriyas seems to be that they don't require special teacher skill as much as other things. I hardly ever go to K yoga classes as I am rather poor. I did the level 1 teacher training and do kriyas for 40 days at home. It is the regular daily practice that does it. If I do my kriya at home and go to cha'an (zen) meditation group (no fee just a small donation) the effect is fabulous! > In my lifetime I have spent thousands and thousands on spiritual matters and I have had enough of it. Sounds like it hasnt worked much for you then? I dont regard K yoga as specially spiritual - I use it to unwind the effects of severe stress. > So I asked him if there were student teachers who were interested in this work and > may be cheaper, his answer was try where you are in London > there must be teachers there. Yes David, but not understanding this. A teacher doesn't need to undertstand your specific problem - as you change with regular practice you will come to understand yourself more and more. Don't work for a 'cure' just work on the kriya and let the kriya do its work. We are too complicated to understand much about ourselves. The yoga will change you and then you will learn something. > Here in London there doesn't seem to be in KY what you have in U.S. and beyond. There is lots of K yoga in London, Brighton, Cambridge. > There is no summer solstice festivals There are many work shops etc (too expensive for me as I do these 2 things - The European Yoga Festival in Fance (8 days 3 days White Tantirc wow!) and every year the one day White Tantric comes to London. > ... If I want books I have to get from Ancient Healing Ways which are expensive and THEN pay tax at over 20%. Just start some kriyas. A good teacher may suggest something. I only have one book and I do some kriyas from the internet. > There is teacher training, it is expensive, and something puts me off. It was absolutely wonderful for me. Aspects of it are bizarre but you are able to leave out anything you aren't happy about. > In all seriousness if we were to lose the internet Ho ho! Lose the internet! > IMHO Yogi Bhajan also said even doing a kriya ONCE could do it for you. Not for me! I just plod on and on and on relentlessly every day....... > .. unless you can do just that one kriya in a surrendered, let go, focused and present manner, it will never help and will never heal. > You have to be free first. The kriya starts to set you free from your-self. > That is why I always am just in silence for a few minuites first and last as that is the end and the goal. How silent is your mind during this silence? Hopefully much more silent after the kriya. > I will get the survival manual, that is good stuff. I will get the Yogi Bhajan book on the mind. I will get some cook books of his. I will look around. Maybe open a book and a do a kriya for 40 days? The ones from the Level 1 training manual are presumably pitched at a good level. It is probably not wise to start on advanced kriyas. > If you know of good things in London please let me know? Wel you are there! Jai Kartar Kaur was my 1st teacher in Nottingham - she inspired me to get heavily invovled with this stuff. She now teaches in London. Good Luck, Keith. Guest guest
Sat Nam, I am in the process of cross-referencing Kundalini Yoga information, found here: http://www.kundaliniyogainfocntr.com/ Master Teachers, mantras, books, everything is on this site, including free classes. This page lists Teachers Around the World (still working on it) http://www.kundaliniyogainfocntr.com/page/Kundalini+Yoga+Teachers+Around+the+Wor\ ld+-new On this page are listed the teachers giving online classes, free clases, inexpensive streaming video classes, and free youtubes. There is a lot for you to look at: http://www.kundaliniyogainfocntr.com/page/Kundalini+Yoga++Classes+-+ONLINE+-+YOU\ TUBE This website does carry Kundalini Yoga books (even has several I would like to have, but the cost of getting them to the US ?, maybe some day) Give them a 'hoot and a holler'. lol http://www.satnam.de/ The other thing you could do is get The Teaching Manual and then you will have it all (most of it anyways). Blessings, Sat Avtar Kaur http://www.kundaliniyogainfocntr.com
