Guest guest
Sat nam, I am wondering if anyone on this list has any knowledge or experience with cleaning a Paiste gong. Some background: The 36 " symphonic gong at the studio where I teach is at least 15-20 years old, and used regularly during classes during relaxation. Everyone who plays it has been briefed on how to play it properly, but no one knows how it should be cleaned, or whether it needs it. I've done some research and it sounds like Paiste gongs, in particular, are made with a protective coating that lasts for the lifetime of a well-cared-for gong. However, I've also been told the cleaning product Silvo is effective for cleaning Paistes. (This info came from some gong Web sites as well as the company Paiste.) I guess I'm just not sure how to determine whether a gong needs to be cleaned, and if so, what difference it makes in terms of sound quality. Anyone care to share what they know? Thanks, Nimrita
