I'm actually practising the kriya called creating self love which I found in the book I am a Woman. I was actually going to ask the group as well about this question since I am working on my navel center but I also think it's important to ensure the heart centre and self love are developed as well.

Dear friends,

I'm wondering which meditation for the heart center is considered the best to open the heart and develop love? I would be glad for every idea. Thanks

I have found the " three meditations for the heart center " to be very powerful

at opening the heart...especially the third meditation...............It can be

found in the old Summer Solstice 1975 issue..........I have the old

issues...maybe they call it something else now..........In the third meditation

I imagine sticking my fingers right into the rib-cage.....and as I slowly breath

...it is like I am pulling the ribs apart....like taffy....or rubber...very

softly....do it until the shoulders are loose and floating with the breath..like

they are balloons....that may take many weeks.............. imagine hollow

shoulders ...arms...and fingers......the breath starts from the heart......goes

into the hollow arms...into the fingers.....which are etherically digging into

the rib cage....and heart...the prana moves in a closed circuit as you

breath............very effective...........Kirantana

Also, in Reaching Me in Me, there's a set " Exercises for the Heart Center " , and

it ends with chanting " Chattr Chakra Vartee " for 5 min. This Kriya really works

for me, esp the chanting. I read somewhere that this mantra directly gives

energy to the heart center (and for overcoming fear). Its the last 4 lines of

Jaap Sahib.

Dear Roses.

There are so very many meditations for opening the heart in this practice... You

should do them all. But keep in mind that the meditations themselves will not

'open' the heart for you... It is your desire to open your heart that will open

your heart.

As many meditations and exercises for the heart you do, the better you will be

prepared for your heart to 'open'. But it may likely not come from the

meditations itself, but rather through some other experience that you will

arrive at because you are looking to have this experience.

Remain open yourself, to every possibility and way to see the world with

compassion and divinity and nobility and radiance, and loving things will come

to you.

Give, love, serve and volunteer. These are also great meditations that open the

heart.

Look for the new book by Guru Prem Singh called the Heart Rules. In it are a

great number of heart meditations for many multiple aspects of the heart.

Chant lovingly to Guru Ram Das with reverence and soul.

Go to class and talk with both your students & teachers.

Find friends and things that you love to do and immerse yourself fully in them

and feel the love - not just with, but - through your body.

Send you past self and former self love from the present.

Challenge yourself. Get physical. Delve deeper into your practice.

Stop and smell the roses, Roses. :)

All this will help you on your path toward giving in and surrendering to open

your heart to all and see all equally with love without judgment or prejudice.

Love is eternal. Practice being eternal.

Fateh Singh
