I don't think grounding is necessary to activate K, however it is very much advised once it is raised, and grounding would probably help in raising the K. Grounding is basically a good rule to follow no matter what. Grounded is simply better than ungrounded. The way it feels to me, is when I'm less grounded, energy is freely flowing out of my hands and other areas. My inner body and outer body (physical) feel further apart. When I place my tongue on the roof of my mouth and hold my thumb and index fingers together (to ground myself) it's like I'm wearing big magnetic boots that suddenly activate and pull me to the ground. I feel really 'solid' and grounded, my balance and spatial acuity increase and I just feel much more in control and in touch with my body. Hope I helped. Love and light to all Cal

Guest guest
Just to add to what Cal said ... Think about it like electrical grounding. Sometimes you may raise more energy than your body needs. You need somewhere for the extra energy to go. Guest guest
Shiva, to me grounding has to do with the 1st chakra. It is our connectness to the earth, the physical. It acts kind of like an " electrical ground " ... keeps you from getting " zapped " by an overload of energy. By staying connected to nature, mother earth, you release unwanted or excess energy. The following is some symptoms I found on a website that are signs you are 'not' very grounded: I have been experiencing at least half of those here lately. LOL! Dizziness Daydreaming A feeling of being 'Spaced Out' Feeling sick Heart palpitations Eyes flickering Weight gain Clumsiness Static shocks Falling asleep when meditating Noise and light sensitive Forgetful Having brilliant ideas that never happen Arguing and unable to get your point across The following is some benfits of being grounded: Brings life in to matter and to be able to bring our healing abilities into the physical. Increases balance and stability in our physical and our emotional state. Helps bring acceptance that we are here to fulfil a purpose. Brings strength. Helps in creating a bridge between Spirit and matter. Provides an outlet making the release (of energy) easier. Allows the attainment of higher Spiritual levels. The following are some activities that can help in getting grounded: Eating - healthy & balanced. Drinking water Walking, especially in natural surroundings Sports, yoga, tai chi etc. Gardening Animals eg. walking the dog Being purposeful Visualization of root chakra/colour I know all this because this is what I have been working on this last week or so. I have been feeling most all of those symptoms for over a week now. I have been doing all those activities to help get grounded, but so far they have not helped much, in fact, I am feeling even worse today. I am going to start on a juice fast tomorrow to see it that will help. I didn't " feel like " doing any of those things above today. I would have rather just stayed in bed, I feel really lousy and my mouth still hurts. I guess I need to be more mindful of what I am putting in it. LOL! Being grounded helps you to be more aware of the present and raises the vibration in the body. Here is a visualization method I found: there are a lot of different ones on the net. Just google 'spiritual grounding techniques'. Visualization is one of the easiest methods of grounding. All you need to do is imagine that you are rooted to the earth. The best way to do this is to sit or lie down on the ground and close your eyes. Visualize roots coming from the base of your spine down into the earth. Breathe gently and let your body relax as you do this. Really see those roots extending down into the earth below you and holding you firmly to the earth. You can even visualize those roots as having earthy colors such as magenta, dark brown or deep green. This method can also be done while standing; just visualize the roots extending from the soles of your feet into the earth. Visualization is an excellent grounding technique to practice before meditation and can also be a meditation in itself. I hope all that helps you in understanding grounding. Guest guest
sat nam dear group members, I encounted many people who have a hard time grounding themselves, , finding their place in this world, especially those living in cities. Any suggestions how to help these people? Exercises, suggestions, foods for grounding? Thank you. Love, Sat Kirtan Kaur
Guest guest
Dear Kirtan Kaur, Yes, I agree! Grounding has been my most important lesson. Using your talents, cleaning your home, cooking, walking, gardening, hard physical exercise...these all help. Reading about finances, clearing clutter, stocking up on food, doing laundry, etc... When people are ungrounded they struggle. Their cars, homes and refridgerators are usually a mess. Doing chores everyday and not getting hooked on spiritual practices is important. I persoanlly have to limit the time I spend in KY and meditation. I used to get addicted. We're living on the Earth plane, so we have to find our calling and work to make money and pay the bills. Right now I'm working part time jobs to pay for property taxes and put money in savings. First spot was at a farm and now I'm at Honey Baked Ham! (I know, a KY teacher, but they were hiring...)The dance/yoga studio is not bringing in enough to pay for everything yet. The extra cash flow is grounding. Best thing I did to heal my 1st chakra was to pay off all my personal debt! Guest guest
Thank you for this response Gurucharan! (And if anything... It wasn't long enough!) Actually, it was perfect -- just what was needed at the right time. I especially 'got-it', with your description of the process of self grounding, leading to group grounding, & spiritual grounding and how it mirrors across the micro to macro-cosmic aspects of Kundalini Yoga, and especially life. Managing the template, harnessing the energy, expressing reality, journeying through consciousness... Ahah! Blessings from an Airy, Watery, and Fiery Pisces, Fateh Singh
